Status: Full-Time

Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week with rotating weekend and holiday coverage

Compensation: Competitive, plus bonus opportunities

Monday-Friday: 8:00 AM-8:00 PM

Saturday-Sunday: 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

Position Summary

NextCare is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our urgent care team in Sherman, Texas .

You will be supported by experienced clinical teams, strong peer relationships, clear practice guidelines, and accessible medical leadership who provide real-time guidance and mentorship. The work is engaging and varied, with a broad patient population and generally low-acuity presentations that keep clinical skills sharp without the pressure of inpatient follow-up.

Key Responsibilities

Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages in an urgent care setting

Manage acute illnesses, minor injuries, and occupational health visits

Order and interpret diagnostic studies, including laboratory testing and imaging

Perform urgent care procedures such as suturing, wound care, incision and drainage, and splinting

Clearly communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions

Document patient care accurately and efficiently in the electronic health record

Code and bill services appropriately

Maintain productivity consistent with urgent care benchmarks

Practice in alignment with NextCare's clinical standards and values

Required Qualifications

Active, unrestricted Texas Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license

Nurse Practitioners must hold active ANCC or AANP certification; Family Nurse Practitioner certification is required

Physician Assistants must hold active NCCPA certification

Active DEA registration or ability to obtain

Ability and willingness to treat patients of all ages

Active BLS certification

Proficiency with electronic health record systems

Willingness to work rotating weekends and holidays

Active DOT certification or willingness to obtain it; associated fees are covered

Preferred Qualifications

Prior urgent care, emergency medicine, or fast-track experience

Strong procedural skills, including suturing, splinting, and wound care

Experience with initial X-ray interpretation before radiology over-read

Comfort practicing independently in an urgent care environment

Occupational medicine and workers' compensation experience
