Job Description

Position Title: Remote Senior Family Law Paralegal

A growing California law firm is seeking a Senior Family Law Paralegal to support four attorneys across a sophisticated caseload of approximately 30-40 active family law matters. This fully remote role will handle calendaring, e-filing, legal forms, declarations, motion shells, memoranda of points and authorities, case organization, and client communication while delivering the high-touch service the firm is known for. The ideal candidate is an experienced family law paralegal who speaks Mandarin, understands California family law procedures, consistently meets a 30-hour weekly billable requirement, and brings the organization, sound judgment, and technical confidence required to thrive with minimal supervision.

Remote Senior Family Law Paralegal Responsibilities:

  • Support four attorneys with approximately 30-40 active family law cases
  • Calendar hearings, filing deadlines, appointments, and other case-related dates
  • Electronically file court documents accurately and on time
  • Prepare and complete California family law forms
  • Draft declarations, motion shells, memoranda of points and authorities, pleadings, discovery, correspondence, and other litigation documents
  • Proofread legal documents for accuracy, consistency, grammar, and proper formatting
  • Organize and maintain electronic case files, pleadings, records, and supporting documentation
  • Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and other involved parties
  • Conduct basic legal research, including reviewing local rules for California superior courts
  • Coordinate with attorneys and support staff throughout the litigation process
  • Assist with billing-related tasks and maintain a minimum of 30 billable hours per week
  • Provide receptionist coverage and assist with other firm-related responsibilities as needed

Remote Senior Family Law Paralegal Requirements:

  • Several years of recent paralegal experience focused exclusively or primarily on family law
  • Professional fluency in Mandarin
  • Recent experience supporting California family law matters
  • Demonstrated success consistently billing at least 30 hours per week
  • Strong knowledge of California family law protocols, procedures, forms, filings, and deadlines
  • Experience drafting declarations, pleadings, discovery, motion shells, and related litigation documents
  • Strong calendaring and electronic filing experience
  • Advanced computer skills and the ability to learn new technology quickly
  • Exceptional organization, time management, and multitasking abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong client service skills with the emotional intelligence to navigate sensitive and challenging family law matters
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and complete assignments without constant oversight
  • Willingness to work California business hours and collaborate with team members during office hours
  • Professional, adaptable, respectful, and receptive to constructive feedback

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with Santa Clara County courts
  • Paralegal certificate
  • Family law trial preparation or trial support experience
  • Experience using MyCase, RingCentral, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Based in the San Francisco Bay Area
