The Nurse Practitioner performs tasks and services under the direct control and supervision of a state-approved supervising physician in accordance with the mission, standards, policies, and practices of Oroville Hospital Post Acute Care. Duties Examines patient, takes medical history, records results, and makes preliminary diagnosis or decides on follow-up procedures. Administers or orders diagnostic tests such as X rays, electrocardiograms, blood work, and interprets test results. Performs therapeutic procedures, such as immunizations, injections, wound care, and managing infection. Exercises professional judgment regarding consultation with supervising physicians concerning appropriate treatment. Develops and implements patient care plans, instructs and counsels patients, and records progress. Prescribes medications to the extent allowable by state guidelines and clinic regulations. Provides general health education regarding matters such as proper diet, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance. Provides assistance with goals of care planning for patients and their families. Performs employment and annual physicals for long term care staff as directed by state or federal requirements. Performs other duties as assigned. Adheres to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements. Lifting Requirements: Prolonged periods of standing and walking. Lifting, pushing, pulling up to 40 pounds, transferring, repositioning patients, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching for patient care functions. Work area is well lighted and ventilated. Regularly exposed to the risks of blood borne and airborne diseases. Contact with patients in a wide variety of circumstances. Exposed to noise, chemicals, communicable diseases, and hazardous materials. Wears personal protective equipment as required.
