Job OverviewA law firm seeks an Associate in the Tax Department specializing in Executive Compensation, Employment, and Benefits to join its Chicago, IL office. The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of two years of relevant experience to support a global practice advising clients on complex compensation, benefits, and employment matters across various industries and jurisdictions.
DutiesAdvise clients on a full spectrum of corporate transactions, including multi-billion dollar mergers, acquisitions, and capital markets deals.Tailor compensation arrangements and address complex multi-jurisdictional employment and employee benefits issues.Optimize plan design to account for tax and securities law considerations while ensuring commercial practicality.Collaborate with cross-office colleagues to provide insights on tax, securities, labor, and corporate governance matters.
RequirementsMinimum of two years of experience in benefits and compensation law.Demonstrated ability to handle challenging compensation, employee benefits, and employment issues.Experience working with diverse clients, including financial institutions, private equity firms, and emerging growth companies.
EducationJuris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
CertificationsAdmission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction.
SkillsSophisticated understanding of the legal landscape, market practice, and conditions in executive compensation.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on commercial and practical solutions.Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working as an integrated part of client teams.Ability to manage sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information.
