Maintenance Technician

<p>What You'll Do You will assist with routine general maintenance and repair tasks throughout the warehouse including basic repairs and adjustments to doors, dock levelers, pallet racks, sweepers, sprinkler systems, forklifts, and pallet trucks. You will participate in assigned training, maintain tools and machinery in operational condition, conduct tests of safety equipment, and maintain accurate preventive maintenance records. You will also perform housekeeping duties and related assignments as required. Essential Functions * Assist with basic repairs and adjustments to warehouse equipment and infrastructure including doors, dock levelers, pallet racks, sweepers, sprinkler systems, forklifts, and pallet trucks in accordance with OSHA standards. </p><ul><li>Participate in all assigned training sessions as directed.</li><li>Clean, change, and lubricate bearings, gears, and other machinery parts using</li></ul> appropriate tools. <ul><li>Maintain tools, machinery, and shop areas in clean and operational condition.</li><li>Conduct tests of safety equipment such as exit signs, fire extinguishers, and</li></ul> sprinkler systems to ensure OSHA and operational standards are met. * Maintain batteries and chargers in working order and keep accurate preventive maintenance records. * Perform housekeeping duties and assist with answering security alarm calls as needed. * Other essential duties may be applicable and assigned as necessary. What Experience and Education You Need <ul><li>High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.</li><li>Basic mechanical knowledge and aptitude required.</li><li>Mathematical and documentation skills required.</li><li>Basic computer skills required including email, internet searches, and basic</li></ul> data entry. * May be expected to participate in HAZMAT responder training. What Could Set You Apart <ul><li>Vocational or technical certification and training preferred.</li><li>Willingness to learn and ability to comprehend qualifications to advance to a</li></ul> Tech 1 position within 2 years. <ul><li>Prior maintenance or mechanical experience preferred.</li><li>Ability to clearly convey technical information to team members and</li></ul> supervisors and collaborate effectively in a team environment. <ul><li>Ability to work with hands in mechanically oriented situations.</li><li>Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.</li><li>Ability to work flexible shifts, including on call.</li></ul> Physical Requirements * Able to tolerate working environment with inside controlled temperatures of minus 45 (-45) degrees Fahrenheit (-43 degrees Celsius) and outside ambient temperatures (including heat, cold, and precipitation). * Able to work at heights in excess of 30 ft. (9 meters) and access elevated platforms, catwalks, and roofs. <ul><li>Able to work in confined areas.</li><li>Able to climb ladders and stairs.</li><li>Able frequently to stand, walk, push, pull, reach with hands and arms, stoop,</li></ul> kneel, and/or crouch. <ul><li>Able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (23 kg) frequently.</li><li>Able to operate hand and power tools safely.</li><li>Able to meet specific vision abilities required by this job including close</li></ul> vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception. (Use of contacts are prohibited when working with ammonia.) * Depending on specific role, able to pass a physical and respiratory/respirator fit exam. * Able to frequently step up/on or step down/off to mount and dismount material handling equipment. * Able to perform fine articulation movements with fingers/hands and/or feet to operate equipment. * Able to wear personal protective equipment required for any/all tasks. The pay rate for this position is $26.75/hr.
