Sanford Rose-JFS Partners is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join a growing construction organization on a TEMP-TO-HIRE basis. This is an opportunity to join a small, collaborative payroll team supporting a large field-based workforce, with the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility as you become established in the role. The ideal candidate is someone who genuinely knows payroll, is comfortable working through a detailed and sometimes manual process, and enjoys being the person others can rely on when payroll needs to be right. Certified payroll experience is particularly important due to the company's government and contract work.
ResponsibilitiesProcess weekly payroll for a large employee population across multiple company entities.Review and verify employee time for accuracy prior to payroll processingWork with field timekeeping information and payroll data using systems including HeavyJob and E1Support payroll for approximately 550-700 employees, with the potential for the scope to growSupport certified payroll associated with government and contract projectsWork with employee per diem information associated with field assignmentsLearn and eventually take ownership of the company's payroll processes while serving as a backup to the Payroll ManagerWork within a highly manual payroll environment while helping identify opportunities to simplify and streamline processesCommunicate directly with field employees and assist with payroll-related questions and issues
Qualifications3+ years of hands-on high volume (1000+ employees) certified payroll experience REQUIREDBilingual Enlgish & Spanish REQUIREDStrong experience working with manual payroll processes and larger employee populationsIntermedaite Excel skills required, including VLOOKUP and PivotTables; SUMIF is a plusAbility to work confidently across multiple spreadsheets and large amounts of payroll dataE1 experience is a plusOracle or Oracle Fusion experience is a plusStrong attention to detail and accuracyComfortable learning new payroll systems and working through complex/manual processesStrong communication skills and a people-oriented personality, with the ability to interact effectively with field employeesConstruction, government contracting, or field-based workforce experience is a plus
