Assistant Professor (RESIDENTIAL)

Ramaiah Institute of Science and Management · India

FULL TIME

Job Description

Business today cannot be separated from technology. Data, software and artificial intelligence now sit at the centre of how firms compete, how markets work and how value is created, and the

managers who lead well are those who understand both the logic of business and the workings of the technology transforming it. The four-year BBA (Honours) is built for that reality. It is a

greenfield programme, designed from first principles rather than adapted from an older model, to prepare graduates who can reason across business, technology and society and contribute from their first day at work.

The programme is delivered in partnership with an international university, which gives it an

international dimension from the outset. The partnership begins with visiting faculty, shared

courses and summer courses, and will grow into faculty exchange, credit-bearing mobility and

research and internship pathways, so that students learn within a global academic community

rather than a purely local one.

The curriculum rests on four academic cores, taught in an integrated way rather than in isolation:

Business; Technology and AI; Liberal Studies; and Entrepreneurial and Workplace Readiness.

Learning follows the LEAP framework of Learn, Engage, Apply and Practice, which combines

rigorous coursework with sustained experiential and industry-embedded work. Every student

takes two of four concentrations (indicative): Analytics and Decision-Making; Venture Building and Innovation; Health Systems and MedTech; and Global Affairs and Geopolitics. Concentrations

replace conventional specialisations, giving students depth in an emerging domain while keeping

the breadth to navigate a changing world. The programme overall lets students learn not only

about organisations but from them. The first cohort begins in September 2026 on the Bengaluru

campus, aligned to the National Education Policy 2020.

The four tracks:

• Business: the analytical and functional foundations of management, spanning marketing, economics, finance, accounting, strategy, operations, analytics and law, taught as the core discipline of how organisations create and sustain value.

• Technology and AI: computational thinking, data analytics, machine learning and generative AI, together with the practice of building digital products and platforms, so that students can both use and reason about the technologies now central to business.

• Liberal Studies: writing, reasoning, ethics, and Indian philosophy and knowledge systems, developing the breadth, judgement and human understanding that distinguish good managers.

• Entrepreneurial and Workplace Readiness: the entrepreneurial mindset, design thinking, negotiation, leadership, communication and professional excellence, developed largely through practice so that graduates are productive from day one.

The role:

We invite applications for full-time residential Assistant Professors to anchor teaching across the

core curriculum, with primary demand in the Business and Technology and AI tracks, including the

core courses. We seek early-career scholars of exceptional promise who combine rigorous disciplinary training with a genuine commitment to undergraduate teaching, and who will develop course content, build a research or case-writing agenda, and grow with the programme. Indicative courses include Principles of Marketing, Managerial Economics, Corporate Finance, Cost and Management Accounting, Business Research Methodology, Machine Learning for Business, and Analytics and Visualisation.

Eligibility (mandatory) -

  • A PhD in the relevant discipline; or a First Class Master's degree or PGDM (minimum 55 per cent or equivalent) with NET, SET or SLET.
  • No minimum professional experience is required. This is an entry academic rank, and outstanding candidates completing their doctorate are encouraged to apply.

Desirable

  • A PhD from a top-100 global or top-10 India institution.
  • Teaching experience at a recognised university.
  • A record of, or clear trajectory towards, peer-reviewed publications or case development.
  • Relevant industry exposure and global experience.

Key responsibilities

  • Teach two to three courses per semester using the LEAP framework.
  • Author faculty content packs, including outcomes, topics, themes and assessment direction.
  • Build a research, case-writing or curriculum-development agenda.
  • Mentor students and contribute to the Board of Studies and accreditation work.

Why join?

The institution offers early-career scholars the chance to build a programme, not just teach in one. Assistant Professors will help design a curriculum benchmarked to the best in the world, teach motivated students in small cohorts, and pursue research and casework with institutional support.
