Lead QA Engineer-Endpoint DLP

Role Overview

We are looking for a QA Engineer with strong manual testing experience to validate an Endpoint DLP/security product across Windows and macOS .

The role will focus on end-to-end functional, integration, network, security, and interoperability testing. The engineer should have a good understanding of Data Loss Prevention (DLP), endpoint security, and networking concepts and should be comfortable troubleshooting issues using logs, network captures, and system-level tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform end-to-end testing of the Endpoint DLP product on Windows and macOS .
• Validate agent installation, uninstallation, upgrade, authentication, enrolment, configuration, and policy synchronization.
• Test DLP policies for allow/block scenarios using sensitive and non-sensitive data.
• Validate DLP detection for data such as PII, PCI, PHI, credentials/secrets, source code, and confidential information .
• Test data movement through prompts, file uploads, and other supported application workflows.
• Validate traffic interception and routing between the endpoint, secure tunnel, cloud gateway, DLP services, and destination applications .
• Verify that monitored application traffic is correctly intercepted while unrelated traffic is not impacted.
• Perform network-level troubleshooting using tools such as Wireshark, tcpdump, netstat, nslookup/dig, curl, ping, traceroute , or equivalent Windows/macOS utilities.
• Validate WireGuard/VPN tunnel connectivity, routing, DNS, TLS/certificate behavior, and network recovery scenarios .
• Analyze endpoint, agent, service, driver/network extension, and cloud-side logs to identify the source of failures.
• Perform negative and recovery testing including service crashes, network disconnect/reconnect, reboot, sleep/wake, authentication failures, backend unavailability, and configuration failures.
• Perform compatibility and interoperability testing with enterprise security products such as Zscaler, CrowdStrike, VPN/SASE, EDR, or similar endpoint/network security solutions .
• Execute functional, integration, regression, exploratory, and release validation.
• Create and maintain detailed test cases in TestRail or similar test-management tools .
• Report defects with clear reproduction steps, logs, screenshots, packet captures, and other supporting evidence.
• Work closely with developers and automation engineers to identify scenarios suitable for regression automation.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of QA/testing experience , preferably with endpoint, networking, cybersecurity, or enterprise security products.
• Strong hands-on experience in manual testing and end-to-end system testing .
• Good understanding of Data Loss Prevention (DLP) concepts, including policies, sensitive-data detection, allow/block enforcement, and data exfiltration scenarios.
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including:
• TCP/IP and UDP
• DNS
• TLS/SSL and certificates
• Routing
• VPN/tunneling
• Proxy concepts
• Network interfaces
• Experience troubleshooting network traffic using Wireshark/tcpdump or similar packet-capture tools .
• Good working knowledge of Windows and macOS .
• Comfortable working with Windows services/processes and macOS processes, permissions, certificates, and system/network components.
• Ability to read and analyze application/service logs.
• Experience testing APIs using Postman, curl, or similar tools .
• Good understanding of client-server and cloud-based architectures.
• Strong debugging and root-cause-analysis skills.

Good to Have

Experience in any of the following would be an advantage:

• Endpoint security products such as DLP, EDR, VPN, SASE, CASB, or Secure Web Gateway .
• Zscaler, CrowdStrike, Netskope, Microsoft Defender , or similar security products.
• WireGuard or other VPN/tunneling technologies.
• TLS interception / SSL inspection.
• Windows drivers or network filtering concepts.
• macOS Network/System Extensions.
• Cloud Gateway or proxy-based architectures.
• Basic Linux knowledge.
• Basic scripting knowledge in Python, Bash, or PowerShell .
• Jira, Confluence, and TestRail.
• Testing desktop applications and enterprise endpoint agents.

What We Are Looking For

We need someone comfortable going beyond standard UI testing. The engineer should be able to investigate a failure across the complete flow—from the desktop application and endpoint agent to network traffic, Gateway, DLP decision, and final allow/block behavior —and work with developers to identify where the issue occurred.
