Job Description
The IT Business Analyst serves as a key liaison between business stakeholders and IT teams, helping translate business needs into practical technology solutions. This role supports departments and business functions across the organization, with a focus on understanding enterprise-wide processes, improving system effectiveness, and enabling better business outcomes. The ideal candidate has hands-on exposure to business systems and cross-functional processes and is ready to grow into broader business analysis responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with departments across the organization, along with IT teams, to understand business needs, process challenges, and improvement opportunities.
- Gather, document, and clarify business requirements, functional requirements, process flows, use cases, and acceptance criteria for system enhancements and projects.
- Support enterprise business applications by analyzing system issues, assisting with configuration, coordinating enhancement requests, and helping improve business processes.
- Assist with process mapping and gap analysis for core business workflows, including cross-functional processes that span multiple departments, systems, and teams.
- Participate in solution design discussions with business users, developers, vendors, and technical teams to ensure proposed solutions align with organizational priorities, process needs, and user experience goals.
- Prepare and execute test plans, support user acceptance testing, document defects, and validate that delivered solutions meet business requirements.
- Create user documentation, training materials, standard operating procedures, and support guides for new or changed systems and processes.
- Analyze business data and reporting needs to help improve visibility into operational performance, process efficiency, service levels, decision-making, and overall business effectiveness.
- Support change management activities by communicating system changes, coordinating training readiness, and helping business users adopt new tools and processes.
- Manage assigned tasks, small enhancement requests, and project workstreams with guidance from senior team members or project leads.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study; equivalent work experience may be considered.
- Two to five years of experience as a business analyst, systems analyst, process analyst, data analyst, functional analyst, or similar role supporting business systems and process improvement.
- Some direct experience supporting business users, business applications, enterprise processes, reporting needs, system enhancements, or cross-functional improvement initiatives.
- Working knowledge of ERP, SaaS, reporting, workflow, collaboration, productivity, or other business platforms and applications.
- Ability to gather requirements, document processes, write clear business documentation, and communicate effectively with both business and technical audiences.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and follow-through skills.
- Comfortable working with data in tools such as Excel, reporting platforms, dashboards, SaaS reports, ERP reports, or basic query tools.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced business environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ERP LX is preferred; experience with other ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Epicor, Infor, or similar platforms is also valuable.
- Exposure to common enterprise business platforms, workflow tools, reporting solutions, integration tools, collaboration systems, or department-specific applications.
- Experience creating process maps, test scripts, training guides, dashboards, business reports, user documentation, or system support materials.
