Interior Designer

Interior Designer / Project Architect – Chennai

We are looking for an experienced and execution-focused Interior Designer / Project Architect who can take complete responsibility for residential and commercial interior projects — from understanding the client’s requirements and developing the design to preparing working drawings, BOQs and coordinating execution at site.

Key Responsibilities

* Meet clients, understand their requirements, budget and design preferences.

* Conduct site visits, measurements and site assessments.

* Develop space plans, concepts, mood boards and design proposals.

* Prepare detailed 2D drawings, floor plans, elevations and sections.

* Create professional 3D models and photorealistic renders.

* Prepare detailed working drawings that can be directly used by contractors and site teams.

* Design modular kitchens, wardrobes, TV units, storage units and custom furniture.

* Prepare electrical, lighting, false-ceiling, flooring and basic plumbing layouts.

* Prepare BOQs, quantity estimates and material specifications.

* Assist in project cost estimation and quotation preparation.

* Design projects according to the client’s approved budget while maintaining aesthetics and functionality.

* Coordinate with carpenters, electricians, plumbers, painters, civil teams, vendors and other contractors.

* Visit project sites and ensure execution is carried out according to approved designs and drawings.

* Identify execution issues and provide practical design/site solutions.

* Conduct quality checks, snagging and support final project handover.

* Coordinate with vendors and compare quotations, materials and specifications.

* Handle multiple residential and commercial projects simultaneously.

Software Skills – Required

Candidates should be proficient in:

* AutoCAD

* SketchUp

* Enscape and/or V-Ray

* Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets

Knowledge of the following will be an added advantage:

* Revit / BIM

* Lumion

* 3ds Max

* Adobe Photoshop / presentation software

Technical Knowledge Required

The candidate should have good practical knowledge of:

* Space planning

* Residential and commercial interior design

* Modular kitchens and wardrobes

* Detailed joinery drawings

* Plywood, MDF, HDF and other board materials

* Laminates, acrylic, veneer, PU and other finishes

* Interior hardware and accessories

* False ceilings

* Lighting and electrical layouts

* Flooring and tile layouts

* Basic plumbing coordination

* Furniture and custom joinery

* BOQ preparation

* Quantity estimation

* Cost estimation

* Material selection

* Site execution and quality control

Candidate We Are Looking For

We are not looking for someone who only creates 3D renders.

We are looking for a designer who understands how a design is actually built and can take ownership of the project through:

Client Brief → Site Measurement → Concept → 2D Design → 3D Visualization → Material Selection → BOQ & Costing → Working Drawings → Site Coordination → Quality Checks → Handover

The candidate should have:

* Strong design sense and creativity

* Strong technical and execution knowledge

* Ability to develop unique designs based on individual client requirements

* Good understanding of project budgets and costing

* Good client presentation and communication skills

* Ability to coordinate contractors and site teams

* Problem-solving ability at project sites

* Willingness to travel to project sites as required

* Ability to manage deadlines and multiple projects

Language

* English – Required

* Tamil – Required for effective client, vendor and site-team communication

Candidates with experience handling projects independently from design through execution and handover will be preferred.
