Job Description

Title: Head Cook

Qualifications:

Effective communication and problem solving skills.

Ability to problem solve in a fast paced work environment

Ability to work collaboratively in an educational setting.

Ability to multi-task and meet realistic deadlines.

Regular and predictable attendance

Qualified to be employed as a Cook per Civil Service and NYS Education Department guidelines.

Good knowledge of the methods of preparing and baking food in large quantities

Good knowledge of modern cooking utensils, appliances, and equipment

Ability to follow and modify recipes and to make simple arithmetic calculations

Ability to supervise the work of others

Ability to sit, stand, bend and kneel for extended periods of time.

Ability to lift and maneuver general kitchen equipment, materials and other objects as needed.

Responsibilities Shall include but are not limited to the following:

• Attend meetings as needed
• Follow directives (written, oral, electronic)
• Regular use of school email
• General Cook assignments
• Prepares and cooks a variety of food
• Bakes cakes, pies, rolls, and a variety of other pastries
• Cuts, cleans and dresses meat, fish, and poultry
• Supervises the proper storage of food
• Supervises the work of Food Service Helpers in the preparation of food and the cleaning of tables, kitchen utensils, stoves, and equipment
• Keeps simple related records
• Prepares production schedules
• Does quality assurance monitoring
• Other assigned duties and/or responsibilities which may be deemed appropriate by the supervisors.
• Maintain Data Security as applicable.
• Maintain confidentiality with staff, students, and family information.
• Operate in a respectful, responsible manner

Reports to: Director of Food Services


Salary: Minimum starting salary $16.98 (negotiable based on experience) as per the Civil Service Employees Association agreement. Contracts can be found on the Victor Central School District website under the Human Resources tab.
