Class A CDL Driver & Equipment Operator

Heavy Equipment OperatorGranite Construction Incorporated is seeking a heavy equipment operator who holds a Class A CDL. The primary responsibility of this role is the daily operation of excavators and bulldozers, with the secondary requirement of operating the site water truck as a backup driver. A valid Class A CDL is strictly required for this position.Essential Job AccountabilitiesEquipment Operation: Operator excavators and bulldozers daily with high precision and safety.Backup Driving: Operate the site water truck to support operations when backup driving is needed.Site Safety: Maintain situational awareness and adhere to all safety protocols on active jobsites.Licensing: Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).Experience: Proven experience operating excavators and bulldozers.Drives truck to destination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and area roads.Prepares receipts for load picked up.Collects payment for goods delivered and for delivery charges.May maintain truck log, according to state and federal regulations.May maintain telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.May load and unload truck.May inspect truck equipment and supplies, such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.May perform emergency roadside repairs, such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains, and spark plugs.May position blocks and tie rope around items to secure cargo during transit.EducationHigh School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experienceLicenseValid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)Work Experience1 to 3 yrs. experienceKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesRead and interpret road mapsPractice good safety habitsWork in dusty or dirty surroundingsFollow instructions and meet set standards for hauling and schedulingJudge distances and weights accuratelyMake decisions based on verifiable standards.Physically, workers must be able to:Stoop, bend, and crouchUse hands, arms, and legs fullySee well (either naturally or with correction)Lift up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.About Granite Construction IncorporatedGranite Construction Incorporated is a member of the S&P 400 Index and is the parent company of Granite Construction Company, one of the nation's largest heavy civil contractors and construction materials producers.
