Job Description

Job Title:

Senior Insurance Partnership Business Developer (3-Month Contract)

Location:

Remote / United States

About Us:

Hydrific, part of LIXIL is redefining home water management with Droplet, an award-winning clamp-on ultrasonic sensor that monitors whole-home water flow in real time. Droplet detects leaks as small as 0.026 gpm, identifies fixture-level usage via machine learning, and alerts homeowners instantly - all with a 5-minute DIY install and no subscription.

Water damage is one of the costliest and most frequent homeowners insurance claims (average payout ~$14,000). Carriers are actively seeking scalable, high-ROI prevention tools that lower claim frequency and severity while improving policyholder retention. Droplet is purpose-built for that opportunity.

Role Overview:

Hydrific is looking for an execution-focused Senior Business Development Contractor who already holds strong relationships within the U.S. insurance and water management industries. We need a closer who can hit the ground running. In this 3-month role, you will tap directly into your existing network to present Droplet’s ROI to key decision-makers and close deals.

Your performance will be measured against one clear KPI: securing partnerships and pilot programs that result in a target of 2,000 Droplet units sold by the end of the contract. To incentivize maximum impact, this KPI is tied to a tiered bonus structure based on goal achievement (e.g., 0.5x payout for partial baseline achievement, 1.0x for hitting the 2,000-unit target, and a 1.5x accelerator for over-performance).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Activate your existing network of decision-makers at insurance carriers, MGAs and brokerages to generate warm introductions.
  • Pitch Droplet’s value proposition (leak prevention, claim severity reduction, policyholder retention, and potential premium/discount programs) to product, risk, underwriting, and claims leaders.
  • Own the front end of the sales cycle: qualification, discovery, ROI modeling, and pilot scoping.
  • Co-lead initial meetings and pilot design sessions with Hydrific Sales Leader; support hand-off into contracting and implementation.
  • Develop and customize outreach materials and messaging for national carriers, regional mutuals, High-Net-Worth specialists, and utility partners.
  • Maintain a clear pipeline and report weekly progress against the 2,000+ unit target.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of senior B2B business development, sales, or partnerships experience within the U.S. P&C insurance industry.
  • An active, established network of executive contacts within target industries that can be leveraged immediately for warm introductions.
  • Proven track record closing multi-hundred or multi-thousand unit hardware placements, subsidized device programs, or risk-mitigation pilots.
  • Comfort presenting to and influencing product officers, risk managers, underwriters, and claims leaders.
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable operating against a strict short-term KPI on a contract basis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills tailored to insurance executives.
  • Openness to travel as needed to facilitate critical in-person pitches, pilot kick-offs, or industry events.

Preferred:

  • Experience working in a fast-paced startup or direct-to-consumer (DTC) environment.
  • Familiarity with smart home technology (IoT), water systems, or sustainability-related products.

Contract Details:

  • Duration: 3 Months (Contract), with the potential to convert into a longer-term or permanent role based on performance
  • Capacity: Flexible (20–40 hrs/week)
  • Core KPI: 2,000+ Droplet units sold or committed via partnerships/pilots within the 3 months
  • Reporting: Weekly pipeline and progress meetings with Sales Leader
  • Compensation: Competitive hourly rate or monthly retainer + performance commission/bonuses tied directly to booked meetings, closed pilots, and the 2,000-unit target

What We Offer:

  • Highly competitive contract compensation with lucrative upside for hitting sales targets
  • Remote flexibility with the option to collaborate with our hybrid NYC-based team
  • A mission-driven culture focused on impact, innovation, and sustainability
  • The opportunity to take ownership of a major strategic initiative and potentially grow into a permanent leadership role in a scaling company
