JOB DESCRIPTIONA well-established, growing litigation defense law firm is seeking experienced Workers' Compensation Defense Litigation Attorneys to join its teams in Chicago, and St. Louis, MO.This opportunity is ideal for attorneys seeking a long-term professional home with meaningful litigation experience, collaborative leadership, flexible work arrangements, and opportunities for advancement, including partnership.The firm represents employers, insurance companies, and third-party administrators in workers' compensation defense matters and offers attorneys the opportunity to independently manage cases while benefiting from experienced partners, mentorship, and dedicated legal support staff.

ResponsibilitiesManage workers' compensation defense matters from initial intake through resolution.Represent employers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators.Handle all phases of litigation, including discovery, depositions, hearings, trials, and appeals.Appear before applicable Workers' Compensation Commissions and courts in Illinois, Missouri, and Wisconsin.Conduct direct and cross-examinations of medical experts and other witnesses.Draft pleadings, briefs, litigation reports, IME correspondence, and other legal documents.Collaborate with partners on litigation strategies, investigations, and complex legal issues.Maintain organized electronic case files and accurate billable time records.Communicate regularly with clients regarding case developments, litigation strategies, and outcomes.Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with clients and colleagues.

QualificationsJ.D. from an accredited law school.Active license in good standing in the applicable jurisdiction.Workers' Compensation Defense litigation experience preferred.Plaintiff-side Workers' Compensation attorneys will also be considered.Experience handling depositions, hearings, trials, and appeals.Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills.Ability to independently manage a caseload and meet deadlines.Experience with legal billing and case management software.Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.Willingness to travel for hearings, depositions, and client meetings.Portable book of business welcomed but not required.
