CBAM Project Manager (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism)

Job Purpose

The CBAM Project Manager will lead DQS's global CBAM business, driving growth, market expansion, customer engagement, and successful delivery of CBAM solutions. The role combines strategic business leadership, commercial management, and technical expertise.

The position requires a strong blend of technical expertise and commercial acumen, with demonstrated experience in business development, strategic planning, contract negotiation, P&L management, and cross-functional leadership. The successful candidate will collaborate with global customers, regulatory bodies, and internal stakeholders to deliver compliance-driven solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Business Leadership

• Develop and execute global CBAM business strategy.
• Own the CBAM business P&L and revenue growth objectives.
• Establish annual business plans, market expansion strategies, and growth roadmaps.
• Build sustainable competitive advantage in the global CBAM services market.
• Drive profitability, operational excellence, and scalable business models.

Business Development & Revenue Generation

• Achieve annual revenue, gross margin, and profitability targets.
• Develop new markets, industries, and strategic customer accounts globally.
• Build and manage a robust sales pipeline.
• Lead strategic customer engagements and executive-level discussions.
• Drive proposal development, solution design, pricing strategy, and contract negotiations.

Solution Leadership

• Develop market-leading CBAM service offerings and managed services solutions.
• Define technical and commercial value propositions.
• Lead solution architecture for complex customer requirements.
• Support innovation and development of digital CBAM solutions.

Customer & Stakeholder Leadership

• Establish executive relationships with global clients.
• Act as a trusted advisor to customers on CBAM and carbon management.
• Partner with regulators, certification bodies, verification agencies, and industry associations.
• Lead strategic customer reviews and business growth initiatives.

Operational & Delivery Leadership

• Oversee successful delivery of all CBAM projects globally.
• Ensure delivery quality, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams across sustainability, consulting, operations, and technology functions.
• Drive standardization, governance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

 Team Leadership

• Build and lead a high-performing global CBAM team.
• Develop future leaders and technical experts.
• Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, customer focus, and business excellence.

Required Qualifications

Education Preferred

Master’s degree in engineering, Environmental Sciences, Sustainability, ESG, Energy Management, or related disciplines.

Professional Experience

• 12+ years of experience in Sustainability, ESG, Carbon Management, Environmental Consulting, Trade Compliance, Supply Chain Consulting, or related domains.
• Proven track record in business growth, revenue management, and profitability ownership.
• Experience developing and commercializing CBAM or carbon-related services.
• Strong customer-facing experience with multinational organizations.
