We're looking for the right veterinarian to work directly alongside our retiring owner-doctor over the next year, take over his caseload and client relationships, and build lasting equity in the practice. This isn't a "take the patient files and figure it out" placement. You'll have up to 12 months of direct, hands-on mentorship and transition support from a doctor who has run this hospital for decades then step into leading it. You won't just work here. You'll own part of it. About the Hospital This is a full-service small animal practice with a loyal, long-standing client base built over three decades. The hospital operates with an efficient, high-standard workflow: our Licensed Veterinary Technicians manage intake, histories, and diagnostics, so doctors can focus on exams, case management, and treatment planning. Multiple fully equipped exam rooms, a dedicated treatment area, and a surgery suite A steady surgical caseload most mornings, with full anesthetic monitoring (ventilator, EKG, blood pressure, capnography, pulse oximetry) In-house lab, digital radiography, and regular access to advanced diagnostic imaging support Strong support staff ratio: Licensed Vet Technicians, Vet Assistants, dedicated Office Manager and front desk team A client base known for trusting their veterinary team and following through on recommended care About the Transition Our current owner-doctor is planning to retire within the next year and will stay on through the transition to introduce you to clients, walk through active cases, and mentor you on the practice's clinical and operational rhythm. Our goal is a real handoff, not a cold start by the end of the transition period, you'll be the clinical and client-facing leader of the hospital. Focus on Medicine. We'll Handle the Rest. This is what sets the role apart: you practice medicine, we run the business. Scheduling, billing, HR, marketing, purchasing, vendor relationships all of it is handled for you, so your time and energy go toward cases and clients, not spreadsheets and staffing headaches. We're also investing in modernizing the practice better technology for scheduling, client communication, and the overall customer experience to make the hospital run more smoothly for you and the team. Growth here means working smarter, not longer: the goal is a more efficient, better-supported practice, not more hours added to your week. What to Expect Compensation: Competitive base salary (above-market for the region) plus production and equity participation in the practice with real upside realized when the practice or platform is eventually sold. We're offering meaningfully more than a standard associate package because we're looking for someone who plans to stay and lead, not pass through. Benefits: Health, dental, and vision insurance Retirement plan contribution Generous PTO plus dedicated CE time and annual CE allowance Licensing, DEA, AVMA PLIT, AVMA, and VIN dues covered Relocation assistance available A schedule that respects your time outside the hospital and stays that way as the practice grows Requirements Clinical Leadership Manage a full caseload across wellness, diagnostics, surgery, and dentistry Build and maintain trusted relationships with an established client base Uphold and help evolve medical standards and case protocols Ensure accurate medical records and clear client communication Practice & Team Leadership Work closely with LVTs and support staff who already run an efficient, high-functioning workflow Help mentor incoming associates and support staff development as the team grows Share input on scheduling and case flow without owning the operational burden yourself Ownership Track Participate in structured equity in the practice, with defined terms discussed during the interview process Realize financial upside as the practice (and platform) grows in value over time Requirements Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree Active New York veterinary license, or ability to obtain one 4+ years of small animal general practice experience preferred (surgical comfort with routine spays/neuters, mass removals, and foreign body cases a plus) Strong client communication skills and comfort working with some clinical independence Genuine interest in long-term ownership and practice leadership this role is built for someone who wants to stay, not rotate through If you're ready to step into a practice with real history, a supportive team already in place, and a true path to ownership, we'd love to talk.
