Job Description
Head of Forward Deployed Engineering | AI x Investment Banking New York City, NY (In-person) $325k – $375k base + up to 20% bonus + 0.35% - 0.50% equity
Be one of the first applicants, read the complete overview of the role below, then send your application for consideration.
The CompanyStorm2’s client is a late-stage AI company automating some of the most manual work inside investment banking, from financial models and comps through to diligence and presentation workflows.
They’ve raised more than $250m, are valued in the billions, and already have their technology running inside several of the world’s largest investment banks. The problem now isn’t generating demand. It’s getting complex financial institutions live quickly and successfully.
The RoleYou’ll build the Forward Deployed Engineering function in New York while staying close to the code and closer to customers. That means sitting alongside bankers working on live transactions, understanding why a workflow breaks, then turning what you learn into production software.
The difficult bit is everything surrounding the AI. You’ll need to make modern agent systems work with platforms like FactSet and S&P Capital IQ, enormous data rooms, legacy deal systems and enterprise environments where security, model risk and compliance can stop a deployment completely.
You’ll report directly to the CEO, hire the first eight FDEs, and have meaningful influence over both product direction and enterprise revenue.
What you'll be working on:Build and lead the Forward Deployed Engineering team in New York, with a target of roughly eight hires in your first 12 months.Deploy AI and agent-based products into complex Tier 1 investment bank environments.Work directly with MDs, bankers, technology teams and senior stakeholders on live deal workflows.Own integrations across FactSet, S&P Capital IQ, SharePoint, data rooms and banks’ internal systems.Navigate information security, model risk, compliance and enterprise architecture reviews.Stay hands-on with production code, including diagnosing and fixing problems during critical client deployments.Feed what you learn from bankers directly back into the core product roadmap.Build the deployment playbook that future FDE teams will follow.Support strategic customer conversations where successful deployment is directly tied to significant enterprise revenue.
What you'll bring:Serious Forward Deployed Engineering experience from a company such as Palantir, Scale AI, OpenAI, Anthropic, Databricks or another technically demanding enterprise AI business. A founder background can work too.You still write production code. This isn’t a people-management-only position.Experience shipping LLM, agent or applied AI systems that are relied upon in production.A track record working through complex enterprise integrations rather than stopping at the API.Enough technical depth to discuss retrieval, agents and production architecture with a CTO.The ability to work directly with demanding senior customers when something important isn’t working.Experience hiring and setting a high engineering bar for an early team.
The unfair advantageIf you’ve previously worked in investment banking, private equity, quantitative finance or another environment where you understand financial modelling and transaction workflows first-hand, that background will be particularly valuable.
You don’t need to have been a banker. You do need to be able to get credible with one quickly.
Compensation $325,000–$375,000 base Up to 20% performance bonus 0.35%–0.50% equity Healthcare, 401(k) match, $10k annual learning budget and NYC relocation support
This is an in-person New York role. If you want a remote leadership position where the team handles deployment while you run the org, it won’t be the right fit. If you want to build the function and still be the person trusted with the hardest deployment in the company, it probably will be.
