Pay: $19.44 - $23.59
A Delivery Assistant is responsible for assisting the Delivery Driver in the movement of product from the main warehouse to the delivery site while acting in a safe and professional manner. The ideal Delivery Assistant is driven to maintain safety regulations and above and beyond customer service.
Depending on the location, the Delivery Assistant reports directly to the General Manager, Production Manager, or Shop Foreman and interacts daily with customers, drivers, dispatchers, receivers, and load-builders.
Duties and Responsibilities
Safely and efficiently load and unload building materials from commercial motor vehicle
Legally, safely, and efficiently travel to destinations through public and private roads
Complete mileage and fuel usage reports
Demonstrates commitment to on time and in full deliveries
Follow delivery procedures by taking photos of delivered shipment after completing each delivery
Establish and maintain professional relationships with customers, contractors, and vendors
Maintain yard, warehouse, and vehicle cleanliness during course of work
Finds productive work to do in down time
Keeps truck supplied, organized, and clean
Comes to work professionally attired
Checks load for accuracy
Perform other related duties as assigned

Safety
Use proper lifting techniques, including buddy lifting when necessary
Always wears high visibility/proper uniform
Safety gear is always utilized (seatbelt, eye protection, ear etc.)
Keeps truck clean daily
Always demonstrates consistency in following safety protocols
Demonstrates care, has minimal product damage
Proactively and consistently brings safety issues to attention of manager and team
Encourages coworkers to follow best practices with safety
Participates on safety committee as able
Teaches and coaches teammates to learn from other’s mistakes
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Open and transparent communication
Familiarity with GPS devices or map applications
Able to read a tape measure
Knowledge of building materials
Ability to speak, write, and read English required
Shoes that are puncture resistant, slip resistant, made of leather or composite material, and have ankle support required
Interpersonal Skills
Ability to work cordially, professionally, diplomatically and with a high level of customer service in a dynamic environment for both internal and external customers
Must maintain confidentiality and accuracy of all information related to company finances and records, particularly, cost of goods purchased and sold
Ability and willingness to identify processes, tools and/or procedures that may be improved upon to improve the workplace and outcomes for our customers
Ability to function independently, as part of a team, and as a leader within your own cohort with a positive attitude, strong work ethic and commitment to excellence

Working Conditions
This position will be working at a millworks facility and make deliveries at jobsites in all weather conditions.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift up to 90 lbs.
Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Ability to sit for an extended period of time
Ability to stoop, bend, and walk
