Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Boiler & Utility Operations

  • Operate and monitor high-pressure boilers, steam generation systems, and auxiliaries.
  • Ensure safe startup, shutdown, load management, and emergency handling of boilers.
  • Monitor combustion efficiency, steam parameters, water chemistry, and equipment health.
  • Coordinate with water treatment, and process utility teams.
  • Ensure optimum fuel utilization and heat-rate performance.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with Boilers Act, Boiler Operation Engineers' Rules, statutory inspections, and plant safety procedures.
  • Maintain valid BOE certification and support statutory audits.
  • Participate in HAZOP, risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety reviews.
  • Strict adherence to PTW, LOTO, and Process Safety Management requirements.

Reliability & Maintenance Support

  • Identify abnormalities and initiate corrective actions.
  • Support preventive, predictive, and shutdown maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams for troubleshooting and reliability improvement.
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) of equipment failures.

Operational Excellence

  • Monitor KPIs related to steam generation, fuel consumption, efficiency, and emissions.
  • Identify opportunities for energy conservation and cost optimization.
  • Support digitalization, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain shift logs, operating records, statutory documents, and incident reports.
  • Ensure accurate handover and communication between shifts.

Qualification

  • Degree / Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Power Plant, Production, or Instrumentation Engineering.
  • Mandatory valid Boiler Operation Engineer (BOE) Certificate of Proficiency as per Boiler Operation Engineers' Rules.

Experience/Qualification

Degree/ Diploma/ITI

  • '5 to 10 Yrs. / 8 to 15 Yrs. of relevant experience.
  • 'Min 5 Yrs as II Class Boiler Asst -ITI

Preferred Experience

  • AFBC/CFBC/PF/HRSG boilers.
  • Coal, Biomass, Petcoke, Gas-fired or Multi-fuel boilers.
  • DCS-based operations.
  • Utility systems within refinery or petrochemical complexes.
  • Exposure to large integrated power and steam generation facilities.

Technical Competencies

  • Boiler operation and combustion systems.
  • Steam generation and distribution.
  • Boiler water chemistry.
  • Turbine and utility integration.
  • DCS/PLC operation.
  • Energy efficiency and troubleshooting.
  • Emergency handling and incident response.
