Job Description

The NHMLAC is seeking a Payroll Manager for our Finance department. The Payroll Manager is responsible for managing the Museum's payroll function. Primary responsibilities include processing semimonthly payroll; timecards, vacation, sick and floating holiday leave records and retirement plan payments.
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Payroll Management: Manages accurate semimonthly payroll for Foundation employees, reviews timesheets for completeness and accuracy, and performs technical analysis and resolution on payroll problems. Processes manual checks, payroll garnishments and court orders. Maintains relationship with payroll service provider to ensure effective service. Performs a backup of the relational database every pay period. Processes accurate and timely year-end reports such as the W-2 Form. Submits County semimonthly timesheets to Shared Services for processing.
- Leave Records: Maintains accrual records related to vacation, sick and floating holidays within maximum amounts available to employees as outlined in the Museum's Human Resources Policies. Audits and reconciles paid time off accruals for financial statements. Coordinates data entry of such records with other human resources staff. Calculates the benefits repayment plan for employees out on leave.
- Benefits Deductions: Reviews and audits the benefits deductions to ensure it accurately reflects the deductions.
- Retirement Records: Processes contributions to employee 403(b) plan and 457 plan in a timely manner. Audits these accounts and prepares and reconciles reports for finance on a regular basis. Performs the Annual Compliance Testing with the plan custodian.
- Ensures employee benefit elections; including 403(b) and 457 contributions, insurance, loans, and deductions, are reflected and executed accurately in the payroll system.
- Payroll Communication: Maintains internal controls and conducts regular audits to ensure completeness. Keeps employees and upper management abreast of any issues. Identifies and resolves all supervisor and employee concerns related to payroll activities. Communicates payroll corrections to supervisors and employees with tact, clarity and excellent customer service.
This position has the following requirements:
- Communication: Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to proofread documents.
- Computer Experience: Has experience using a personal computer and with MS Office and its Word, Excel and Outlook functions (PC and/or Macintosh).
- Payroll Experience: Has experience with payroll systems and database software. Experience with ADP Workforce Now preferred, including experience with ADP setup and configuration as a system administrator.
- Change Management Experience: has experience evaluating current business processes and recommending changes and providing training and documentation for changes.
- Seven years of payroll processing experience required. Two years of accounting experience preferred.
- Experience with payroll in a unionized environment is a plus.

The annual salary range for this position is $96,720.00 - $104,000.00 with excellent benefits. This is a full-time regular, exempt position.
