About Millennium Communications Group Inc. (MCG)Millennium Communications Group Inc. is a 100% employee-owned technology infrastructure and telecommunications company delivering advanced network solutions for public and private sector clients. Our capabilities span fiber optic infrastructure, structured cabling, outside plant construction, wireless networks, physical security, data center infrastructure, and managed technology solutions. From initial design and engineering through construction, integration, testing, and closeout, Millennium provides turnkey solutions for complex technology projects throughout the region.
The RoleMillennium is seeking a Fiber Optic Splicing Supervisor to run the splicing operation. This is not a hand on splicing position. You will make sure the splicing team can execute: scope is clear, jobs are set up, access is arranged, materials are on site, and the customer knows where the work stands. You will support data center, municipal, school, government, campus, carrier, and private fiber projects across New Jersey and the surrounding region, working from our East Hanover yard and in the field with project managers, construction, and the customer.
What you will do • Turn project scope into a clear work plan for the splicing team: locations, fiber counts, splice assignments, closures, test requirements, and the sequence of work. • Set jobs up before the crew arrives. Confirm prints, access, permits, escorts, building contacts, and site conditions so splicers are splicing, not waiting. • Own materials readiness. Identify what the splice needs, place or coordinate orders, and confirm cable, closures, trays, sleeves, labels, and consumables are on hand before the crew is dispatched. • Schedule splicing crews against construction progress and customer windows. Move work when access or the build sequence changes. • Track splicing progress and report status to project managers and the customer. Surface delays early, with a cause and a next step. • Advise crews during troubleshooting and outages. Help isolate the problem, line up the right tech and materials, and keep the customer updated until service is restored. • Review splice documentation and test packages for completeness before they go to closeout. Send incomplete packages back. • Coordinate with construction, engineering, and the customer’s inspector so splicing is not the holdup at acceptance. • Set expectations with the splicing team on safety, labeling, housekeeping, and the standard of the handoff. • Capture field issues that belong in estimating or engineering: missing strand, bad design, wrong closure, access that was never real.
What you bring • 5 or more years in fiber optic construction, splicing, or network operations, including at least 2 years directing crews or coordinating splice work. • Enough fiber knowledge to read a splice schematic, assign work, and troubleshoot with a splicer. You do not need to be the one splicing. • Proven ability to set up jobs: access, materials, prints, and a crew that shows up ready. • Clear communication with customers, inspectors, and project managers, including during an outage. • Comfortable in the field and on the phone. This role lives between the yard, the job site, and the customer. • Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record. • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
Preferred • Experience coordinating outside plant splicing on municipal, K-12, campus, public-safety, or carrier fiber. • Familiarity with closures, ribbon and single-fiber work, OTDR results, and what a passing test package looks like. • Prevailing wage or union jobsite experience. • Materials coordination or light purchasing experience.
What we offer • Competitive compensation based on experience. • Medical and dental insurance. • 401(k) retirement plan. • Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP). • Paid time off and paid holidays. • The chance to run a splicing operation on large infrastructure projects inside a 100% employee-owned company.
At Millennium, employees are more than members of the team. They are owners of the company and share in the long-term success we create together. xzbcwsv Millennium Communications Group Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
