Carpenter | Full-Time |Cambridge| Every applicant is guaranteed an interview Every applicant gets an interview At Trident Personnel, together with Hireme, we believe that everyone who takes the time to prepare an application deserves an interview. Take it right away or when it suits you, on your phone or computer.
It's your chance to tell us about your experience in your own words, beyond what fits on a CV, and your answers go straight to our recruitment team.
We're looking for a dependable, trade-qualified Carpenter to join a site-based team delivering residential, commercial, and fit-out projects across Greater London. You'll be a core part of a multi-trade environment, working on varied and interesting projects where your skills will genuinely make a difference.
The role
This is a hands-on, site-based position covering the full scope of carpentry and joinery work. Day to day, you'll be: Carrying out first and second fix carpentry — stud partitioning, door linings, skirting, architraves, structural timber work, and more
Hanging doors, fitting frames and door furniture, and ensuring everything is level, square, and functioning correctly
Installing kitchen units, wardrobes, and bespoke or manufactured joinery to specification
Laying hardwood, engineered, and laminate flooring, including subfloor preparation
Reading and working from construction drawings, architectural plans, and cut lists
Carrying out remedial and refurbishment carpentry on existing structures
Erecting and dismantling timber formwork, hoarding, or temporary works as required
Liaising with Site Managers, other trades, and occasionally clients to keep work sequenced and on programme
Managing materials on site and maintaining a clean, safe working environment in line with the site health and safety plan
Working hours are typically Monday to Friday, 07:30–17:00 or 08:00–17:30, with occasional overtime or Saturday working during busy programme periods. Projects span inner and outer London boroughs, so reliable commuting across the Greater London area is essential.
What we're looking for
Essential: Minimum 3 years' post-training, hands-on carpentry experience in a professional construction or maintenance environment
Proven experience across both first and second fix on residential or commercial projects
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry and Joinery (or City & Guilds equivalent), or a recognised trade apprenticeship
Valid CSCS Blue Skilled Worker card as a minimum — this is a firm site-access requirement
Confident reading construction drawings and working accurately from cut lists
Competent with a full range of hand tools and power tools, including mitre saws, circular saws, jigsaws, routers, and nail guns
Sound working knowledge of UK building regulations as they apply to carpentry and joinery
Right to work in the United Kingdom
Physically fit for the demands of the role, including working at height, lifting timber and sheet materials, and sustained periods of kneeling and standing
Desirable (not essential, but great to have): NVQ Level 3 or full advanced apprenticeship
Experience on heritage, conservation, or period property restoration projects
IPAF or PASMA certification
First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid on Site certificate
Experience with bespoke staircase components, sash window restoration, or fitted furniture
Asbestos Awareness certificate (Category A)
Own van and full, clean UK driving licence
Familiarity with site management software such as Fieldview or Procore
Beyond the technical skills, we're looking for someone who is reliable, punctual, and takes quality seriously at every stage — not just the visible finishes. You'll need clear communication skills, a collaborative attitude in a multi-trade environment, and the problem-solving instinct to adapt when things don't go exactly to plan on site. xrexnqw
