Position OverviewWe are seeking an outgoing, energetic, and knowledgeable Mahjong Instructor & Guest Services Associate to join our team!This position combines Mahjong instruction with hospitality and guest services. The ideal candidate is passionate about Mahjong, enjoys teaching others, and thrives in a fun, social environment.You will be responsible for teaching Mahjong to beginners, assisting experienced players, setting up game tables, welcoming guests, managing reservations, and ensuring every guest has an exceptional experience.This is a hands-on position requiring strong communication skills, patience, attention to detail, and a genuine passion for creating memorable social experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Mahjong Instruction & Game AssistanceLead Mahjong lessons for beginners, individuals, and groups.Teach guests the fundamentals of Mahjong, including rules, tile identification, gameplay, and strategy.Provide clear, engaging, and easy-to-follow instruction for players of varying experience levels.Assist guests with questions throughout their games.Set up Mahjong tables with tiles, racks, mats, and necessary accessories.Ensure Mahjong sets are complete, organized, and properly maintained.Help coordinate Mahjong lessons, group sessions, and special events.Create a welcoming, encouraging environment for guests learning to play.Assist guests with classic board games and card games as needed.
Guest Experience & HospitalityWarmly greet and welcome guests upon arrival.Check in guests, confirm reservations, and escort guests to their assigned tables.Provide exceptional customer service and create a fun, social atmosphere.Answer questions regarding games, pricing, reservations, lessons, and lounge offerings.Assist guests with selecting games and preparing their tables.Remain attentive to guest needs throughout their visit.Encourage guests to return for additional lessons, game nights, and social gatherings.Handle guest concerns professionally and communicate issues to management.
Phones, Reservations & BookingsAnswer incoming phone calls promptly and professionally.Book, confirm, modify, and cancel reservations using the company's booking system.Assist guests with scheduling Mahjong lessons, game tables, and group reservations.Respond to questions regarding availability, pricing, lessons, and private events.Manage guest check-ins, walk-ins, and seating arrangements.Maintain accurate reservation information and communicate special requests to management.
Food, Beverage & Lounge OperationsRegularly restock water, beverages, food, snacks, and guest amenities.Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked guest service areas.Monitor inventory levels and notify management when supplies are running low.Clean, organize, and reset game tables between reservations.Maintain Mahjong equipment, game pieces, and accessories.Ensure the lounge, seating areas, and photo opportunities remain clean and presentable.Assist with opening and closing procedures.Follow company policies, hospitality standards, and applicable food safety procedures.Support management and fellow team members with daily operational needs.
Qualifications & RequirementsStrong knowledge of Mahjong and the ability to confidently teach beginners is required.Experience playing American Mahjong preferred.Previous experience teaching Mahjong or leading group lessons is highly preferred.Friendly, outgoing personality with excellent communication skills.Patient, approachable, and comfortable teaching individuals and groups.Previous hospitality, customer service, or entertainment experience preferred.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Comfortable answering phones, managing reservations, and assisting guests.Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, social environment.Reliable, professional, punctual, and team-oriented.Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
