Job Description
SALARY RANGE: $3,447.76 to $5,093.93 Bi-weekly; $89,641.76 to $132,442.18 Annually REPORTS TO: Controller DUTIES: Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Staff Accountant is mid-level, highly technical accounting professional who works with the Staff Accountant and the Controller to perform bank transactions, financial analysis, complex accounting and reconciliations. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain the general ledger (GL); prepare journal entries for month-end and year-end closing.
- Perform monthly GL account reconciliations, such as FSA and other complex accounts.
- Perform bank transfers, interest allocation, and review bank fees and transactions.
- Maintain lease schedules, review payments and analyze common area maintenance costs.
- Work with independent and governmental auditors in conducting annual and/or periodic audits. Prepare audit schedules, write-ups and reports.
- Perform the accounting and reconciliation for CPP, HCBS and other specialized projects or grants.
- Manage Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) program along with Staff Accountant and report uncollectible to DDS.
- Review vendors’ audited financials and track annual compliance in accordance with DDS guidelines.
- Perform back-up duties for staff accountant and Controller in doing bank reconciliations and processing monthly State claims as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to assist Controller in audits and special projects.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field required.
- Three to five years’ experience in general ledger accounting, accounts reconciliation and analysis.
- Ability to read and analyze financial reports.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), practices and procedures and computerized programs including MS Office Suite, with a strong proficiency in MS Excel.
- Ability to develop complex spreadsheets and update databases to perform audit analysis.
- Establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relations with other Departments and cross-functional teams. Good oral and written communication skills.
- Maintain utmost confidentiality with a high level of personal and professional conduct.
- Must be able to work independently. Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity and an ability to work effectively with culturally diverse populations
