Accounting Associate – Contract (3+ Months)

Location: Vernon Hills, IL (Northern Suburbs)Employment Type: Contract – 3+ Months (Potential for Extension)Schedule: Hybrid – 3 days onsite initially, transitioning to 2 days onsite per weekAbout the OpportunityAscendo Resources is partnering with a great, growing organization in Vernon Hills, IL, seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Associate to join its team on a 3+ month contract basis.This individual will play an important role in managing day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and sales tax filings.The organization operates with a lean accounting team and outsources more complex accounting functions, allowing this individual to focus on hands-on operational accounting. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership of their work in a collaborative, growing environment.Key ResponsibilitiesManage Accounts Payable, including processing approximately 500 vendor invoices annually, maintaining vendor records, processing payments, and collecting W-9 forms.Handle Accounts Receivable, including generating customer invoices, tracking payments, and processing bank deposits.Perform monthly bank reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.Review, code, and reconcile employee expense reports using QuickBooks and Expensify.Prepare and manage monthly sales tax filings.Create and maintain Excel reports and assist with financial reporting as needed.Support general ledger maintenance and day-to-day accounting activities.Assist with administrative tasks, recordkeeping, and document management as needed.QualificationsPrevious hands-on experience with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and bank reconciliations required.QuickBooks experience required; QuickBooks Desktop strongly preferred.Experience with sales tax reporting and filings.Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.Ability to work independently and take ownership of daily accounting responsibilities.Experience with Expensify is a plus; training will be provided.Experience with AvaTax is a plus.Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience considered.Why This Opportunity?Join a growing, well-established organization with a collaborative team environment.Take ownership of essential accounting functions and contribute directly to daily operations.Enjoy a flexible hybrid schedule, transitioning to just 2 days onsite per week.Gain exposure to multiple areas of accounting within a lean team.3+ month contract opportunity with potential for extension.Apply TodayIf you're an accounting professional with strong QuickBooks, AP/AR, and reconciliation experience looking for your next opportunity, we'd love to connect!Ascendo Resources is actively interviewing qualified candidates for this position. xzbcwsv Apply today to learn more!
