Job Description

Head of SIOP & Order Management

Austin, Texas | On-Site | Manufacturing

Are you an analytical supply chain leader who understands how demand, inventory, materials, manufacturing capacity, and customer commitments fit together?

We are seeking a hands-on Head of Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) and Order Management for an established, growing manufacturer of highly configurable products in the Austin, Texas area.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of an evolving planning environment, strengthen the connection between demand and manufacturing execution, and build the processes, analytics, and systems that support reliable customer delivery.

We're looking for someone who has already worked extensively in integrated planning - whether your organization calls it S&OP, SIOP, IBP, supply planning, or materials planning - and who can personally develop, validate, and manage the calculations behind effective planning decisions.

This is a hands-on leadership position, not simply a role overseeing planning reports or managing a large team.

What You'll Be Responsible For

Integrated Planning & SIOP

  • Own and continuously improve the integrated planning process connecting customer demand, procurement, inventory, manufacturing capacity, and order execution.

  • Establish practical planning cadences, operating metrics, accountability, and cross-functional decision-making processes.

  • Translate demand forecasts into executable supply, production, and inventory plans.

  • Identify constraints, evaluate tradeoffs, and drive timely decisions across Sales, Manufacturing, Procurement, Finance, and Logistics.

Inventory, Materials & Manufacturing Planning

  • Independently develop and maintain inventory-planning models, including safety stock, reorder points, target stocking levels, and inventory burndown.

  • Translate finished-product demand into component-level material requirements.

  • Evaluate supplier lead times, material shortages, production capacity, and manufacturing bottlenecks.

  • Support planning for highly configurable products, complex assemblies, common components, and subassemblies.

  • Improve inventory accuracy, availability, turns, and working-capital performance without compromising customer service.

ERP, MRP & Data Integrity

  • Serve as a functional owner of planning processes within NetSuite.

  • Strengthen MRP effectiveness through accurate BOMs, item masters, lead times, planning parameters, and work-order information.

  • Work directly with Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure system data reflects how products are actually built.

  • Develop sustainable processes for maintaining planning accuracy as products, demand, and manufacturing requirements evolve.

Order Management & Customer Commitments

  • Lead the Order Management function, ensuring accurate order intake, readiness, status visibility, and coordination through shipment.

  • Connect material availability and manufacturing capacity with realistic customer delivery commitments.

  • Establish clear processes for order exceptions, priority changes, delays, and cross-functional escalation.

  • Improve order-management workflows, communication, and execution reliability.

Analytics & Continuous Improvement

  • Build and maintain practical Excel-based models for demand, inventory, materials, and capacity planning.

  • Analyze raw operating data, identify discrepancies, validate assumptions, and translate findings into actionable decisions.

  • Develop meaningful KPIs covering forecast accuracy, inventory performance, material availability, production readiness, and on-time delivery.

  • Drive adoption of improved planning practices through collaboration, training, and consistent follow-through.

What We're Looking For

  • Substantial hands-on experience in S&OP, SIOP, integrated business planning, supply planning, materials planning, or related manufacturing planning disciplines.

  • Direct experience with complex, multicomponent physical assembly manufacturing.

  • Strong analytical capabilities, including advanced Excel modeling and the ability to independently calculate and explain inventory and production-planning requirements.

  • Demonstrated experience with MRP, bills of materials, inventory parameters, and ERP-based manufacturing planning.

  • Experience connecting demand forecasts to material availability, capacity constraints, purchasing decisions, and customer delivery commitments.

  • Strong cross-functional communication and change-management skills.

  • A practical, detail-oriented approach and willingness to work directly with manufacturing teams to understand physical production processes.

NetSuite experience is strongly preferred. Experience with other sophisticated manufacturing ERP/MRP systems is also valuable.

A bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations, Business, or a related field is preferred. Relevant professional certifications are a plus.

The Right Person for This Opportunity

You are comfortable moving between a spreadsheet, an ERP system, a manufacturing floor, and a leadership meeting.

You understand the mathematics behind inventory and capacity planning, but you also recognize that a model is only useful when it accurately reflects the physical manufacturing environment.

You've worked in organizations where planning processes needed improvement, and you know how to create structure, establish accountability, and build confidence in the numbers.

Most importantly, you have the analytical depth and practical manufacturing experience to take ownership of the planning function from day one.

If your background combines analytical supply chain planning, complex manufacturing, and practical S&OP/SIOP ownership, we'd welcome a conversation.
