Job Description

Job Roles

• PaymentApplication: Accurately post all insurance payments(EOBs/ERAs), patient payments, and other revenueadjustments into the practice management system.
• Reconciliation:Reconcile posted payments with bank deposits and electronicremittance advice (ERAs) daily to ensure accuracy and identifyany discrepancies.
• DenialManagement: Identify, analyse, and post claim denials,partial payments, and underpayments. Route deniedclaims to the appropriate department (e.g., denialmanagement, appeals) for resolution.
• AdjustmentPosting: Post contractual adjustments, write-offs, andother non-payment adjustments as per establishedpolicies and procedures.
• Credit BalanceResolution: Research and resolve patient and insurance creditbalances in a timely manner, initiating refunds when necessary.
• ERA Management:Efficiently process electronic remittance advice (ERAs) andmanage any associated exceptions or errors.
• Manual PaymentPosting: Accurately post payments received via mail,phone, or in-person, including check, credit card, and cash payments.
• Reporting:Generate and review payment posting reports, balancingdaily deposits, and assisting with month-end closeactivities related to payment posting.
• Communication:Communicate effectively with insurance companies, patients,and internal departments regarding payment inquiries,discrepancies, and resolutions.
• Compliance:Adhere to all HIPAA guidelines, medical billingregulations, and company policies regarding paymentposting and data security.
• SystemUtilization: Proficiently utilize medical billingsoftware, electronic health record (EHR) systems, andother relevant tools for payment posting and research.
• Problem Solving:Proactively identify and resolve payment posting issues,escalating complex problems to supervisors when necessary.
• Documentation:Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of allpayment posting activities and communications.

Requirements

Work Experience:

• Minimum of 2-3years of proven experience in medical payment postingwithin a healthcare setting (billing company).
• Demonstratedexperience with various payment posting methods,including ERA processing and manual payment application.
• Strongunderstanding of medical billing and coding principles,including CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes.
• Experienceinterpreting and processing Explanation of Benefits(EOBs) and Electronic Remittance Advices (ERAs) frommajor insurance carriers (Medicare, Medicaid, commercialpayers).
• Experience withspecific practice management or billing software(eClinicalWorks).
• Familiarity withdifferent payment models and reimbursement methodologies.
• Experience withdenial management and basic appeals processes.
• Proven ability tohandle a high volume oftransactions efficiently and accurately, consistently meeting daily productivity targets for both manual (EOB)and electronic (ERA) payment posting, typically managinga substantial number of claims/transactions perday.

Education

• Candidates mustpossess a Bachelor's orMaster's degree .
• Professionalcertification from a recognized medical billing and codingorganization (AAPC CPC, AHIMA CCS-P) is highly valued and asignificant plus.

Skills:

Proficiency inmedical billing software and practice management systems.

Strong dataentry skills with a high degree of accuracy andspeed.

Intermediate toadvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for reconciliation andreporting.

Ability tonavigate and utilize online payer portals for payment research.
