The Team
Our Building Services Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a sound knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals and a demonstrated interest in building design. Working closely with our clients, the Building Services team focuses on providing solutions for many different types of projects including schools (K-12), universities, residentials, hospitality, and commercial projects.
Role and Responsibilities
Design mechanical systems including heating, cooling, heat rejection, air and water distribution, ventilation, air conditioning, building automation, and controlsPerform system design calculations and load calculationsSelect equipment for use in building systemsIncorporate sustainable design methods in buildingsPrepare contract drawings detailing the designed systemsReport writing and specification preparationCoordinate work with engineers of other disciplines and architectsAttend meetings and communicate with clients, establish their needs, and discuss design issues with them
Qualifications and Education Requirements
A baccalaureate degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited 4-year institutionMinimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in commercial/institutional building projects3+ years of experience designing HVAC systems for buildingsStrong AutoCAD and Revit capabilitiesStrong fundamental understanding of NYC and national building codesKnowledge of Microsoft Office SuiteEIT license highly desirableSolid analytical, quantitative skills and a demonstrated capability for analysis and strategic thinkingRobust initiative and willingness to succeed in a collaborative, team-based environmentAbility to multi-task with multiple projects to meet strict deadlinesExcellent communication skills and ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in accessible ways, both verbally and in writing.Knowledge of HVAC design strategies for residential, schools K-12, higher education, labs, and commercial interiors is desirable.
The salary range for this position will be between $90,000- $110,000. This is a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. Actual base salary will vary and will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, education, skills, licensure, location and other business and organizational needs. Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package.
