As a front line employee the cashier/host is the director of first impressions. Cashier/Host are expected to provide prompt, courteous, friendly and professional service to all Moody Gardens guests at all times. Cashier/Host are required to be detailed in every aspect of their work while maintaining an efficient pace.The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below.Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities.QualificationsEssential functions:Maintain a guest focus while performing dutiesAssume 100% responsibility for quality guest experienceWelcome and greet guests within 20 seconds with a friendly polite smile and eye contactInform guest of specials and menu changesAnswer questions about our food and beverages and other restaurant functions and servicesProvide high chairs and special seating arrangements to guests as needed or as requestedSeat each guest in the appropriate section, rotate sections to ensure that servers are not overwhelmed and tables are distributed evenlyProvide menus for each guest and remove unnecessary place settingsInform server of new tables seated in section and return to cashier's desk and mark table as occupiedCheck schedule daily to be aware and prepared for any incoming parties and special eventsEnsure menus are kept clean and in a neat and tidy stateAs guests vacate table ensure they are being cleaned and removed from the board as occupiedReplenish work station suppliesInform occupied and unoccupied table to relief personnelCommunicate details about any waiting guests and their request to relief personnelBe ready and willing to assist servers before they askThank guests for their visit and invite them to returnAttend all scheduled employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvementNotify manager on duty any time a guest is not 100% satisfied with their experienceAny and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody GardensEducation/Experience Requirements:No prior experience requiredMust obtain TABC & Food Handlers Certification prior to beginning workRequired Skills:Must be reliable and responsibleAbility to deal with large crowds and potentially upset guestAbility to handle a fast paced environment that is often stressfulAbility to exhibit maturity in the workplace and have a cooperative attitudePhysical Requirements:Ability to remain on feet for entire shiftAbility to grasp, lift, push, pull, or otherwise move up to 30 pounds
