Position Summary

The Department of Physiotherapy invites applications for the positions of Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor in Sports Physiotherapy, Neurological Physiotherapy, and Orthopaedic Physiotherapy. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching, clinical supervision, research, curriculum development, student mentoring, and academic administration while contributing to the institution's vision of excellence in healthcare education, research, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Academic & Teaching

Deliver high-quality teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students through lectures, tutorials, practical sessions, and clinical demonstrations. Develop and update course content, lesson plans, teaching materials, and assessment tools. Facilitate experiential learning through clinical postings, laboratory sessions, and case-based discussions. Evaluate student performance and provide academic guidance and mentorship.

Clinical Education & Training

Supervise students during clinical training and internships. Ensure adherence to professional, ethical, and evidence-based physiotherapy practices. Demonstrate advanced clinical skills relevant to Sports, Neurological, or Orthopaedic Physiotherapy. Foster industry and hospital collaborations to enhance clinical exposure and training opportunities.

Research & Scholarly Activities

Undertake and promote research activities in specialized areas of physiotherapy. Publish research papers in peer-reviewed national and international journals. Guide student research projects, dissertations, and scholarly work. Participate in conferences, workshops, seminars, and faculty development programs. Seek research grants, consultancy projects, and collaborative research opportunities.

Academic Administration

Participate in curriculum development, accreditation, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance activities. Contribute to departmental planning, committee work, and institutional initiatives. Assist in organizing academic events, conferences, workshops, and outreach programs. Maintain academic records and ensure timely submission of reports and documentation.

Student Development & Mentoring

Mentor students in academic, clinical, research, and professional development activities. Support career guidance, placement initiatives, and community engagement programs. Encourage innovation, critical thinking, and lifelong learning among students.

Specialization-Specific Expertise

Sports Physiotherapy

Sports injury prevention and rehabilitation. Exercise prescription, biomechanics, athlete conditioning, and performance enhancement. Return-to-play assessment and sports-specific rehabilitation.

Neurological Physiotherapy

Rehabilitation of stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson's disease, and other neurological disorders. Neurodevelopmental treatment and evidence-based neuro-rehabilitation techniques. Functional recovery and assistive technology applications.

Orthopaedic Physiotherapy

Musculoskeletal assessment and rehabilitation. Manual therapy, pain management, and post-operative rehabilitation. Management of orthopedic and sports-related injuries.

Qualifications & Experience

Assistant Professor

Master's Degree (MPT) in Sports Physiotherapy, Neurological Physiotherapy, Orthopaedic Physiotherapy, or relevant specialization from a recognized institution. Registration with the appropriate Physiotherapy Council, wherever applicable. Prior teaching or clinical experience preferred.

Associate Professor

Master's Degree (MPT) in the relevant specialization. Ph. D. in Physiotherapy or related field preferred as per institutional/regulatory norms. Minimum 5–8 years of teaching, research, and/or clinical experience. Demonstrated record of research publications and academic contributions.

Professor

Master's Degree (MPT) in the relevant specialization. Ph. D. in Physiotherapy or related field preferred/required as per applicable norms. Minimum 10–15 years of teaching, research, and clinical experience, including leadership responsibilities. Strong record of research publications, funded projects, academic administration, and professional achievements.

Required Competencies

Strong subject knowledge and clinical expertise. Excellent teaching, communication, and presentation skills. Research aptitude with publication and project experience. Student mentoring and academic leadership capabilities. Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary healthcare and academic environments.
