CNC Turning Setter / Machinist Location: Stoke-on-Trent

Salary: £16.00–£16.50 per hour, depending on experience
Hours: Monday–Thursday, 7:00am–5:00pm
Overtime: Optional Friday overtime, Saturday and Sunday available at enhanced rates
The Opportunity We are currently recruiting for an experienced CNC Turning Setter / Machinist to join an established engineering and manufacturing business in Stoke-on-Trent.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on machinist who can confidently set up CNC turning machines independently, interpret engineering drawings and select the correct tooling and jaws to ensure jobs are prepared accurately and efficiently.
The business manufactures a varied range of components for customers across industries including defence, oil and gas, scientific engineering and manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC turning machines independently.
Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Select appropriate tooling, jaws and work-holding equipment.
Work with Fanuc-controlled CNC machinery.
Operate Doosan and Miyano CNC lathes.
Manufacture components in small batches, typically ranging from 1–50 parts, alongside bar-fed production work.
Carry out dimensional inspections and quality checks.
Ensure components meet required specifications and quality standards.
Identify and resolve machining and set-up issues.
Requirements Previous experience as a CNC Turning Setter / Machinist.
Ability to set jobs up independently from start to finish.
Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
Good knowledge of tooling, jaws and work-holding methods.
Experience with Fanuc controls.
Doosan and/or Miyano experience would be advantageous.
A proactive approach with strong attention to detail.
What's on Offer? £16.00–£16.50 per hour, depending on experience and skill set.
A three-month pay review for all new starters.
A four-day working week, Monday to Thursday.
Optional Friday overtime paid at time and one-third.
Saturday overtime paid at time and a half.
Sunday overtime paid at double time.
A varied workload across multiple engineering sectors.
