Executive – SMS Firewall (SMSFW)

Role Summary

The purpose of this position is to ensure secure and reliable SMS traffic by monitoring SMS Firewall operations, troubleshooting SS7/SMPP and SMS-related issues, and providing timely technical support to MNOs and partners to maintain service availability.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Monitor and operate SMS Firewall (SMSFW) platforms to ensure service availability, traffic flow, and system performance.
• Monitor and analyze SMS traffic, alarms, alerts, and system statistics to identify abnormal or suspicious activities.
• Monitor and troubleshoot SMPP binds, connectivity, and message delivery issues.
• Analyze SMS traces, EDRs, and logs using SMSFW and packet-analysis tools such as Wireshark.
• Support detection and investigation of SMS fraud, grey routes, bypass traffic, and unauthorized SMS routing.
• Perform SS7 and SMPP traffic analysis and troubleshooting.
• Coordinate with MNOs, SMSFW vendor, aggregators and internal technical teams for troubleshooting and service implementation.
• Participate in UAT, upgrades, maintenance activities and DR exercises.
• Perform regular SMSFW health checks, including links, binds, traffic levels, redundancy and service availability.
• Maintain network diagrams, configuration records, operational procedures and troubleshooting documentation.
• Handle technical incidents and service requests within defined SLA and escalation procedures.

Job Specifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, IT, or a related field.
• Minimum 1 to 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in SMS, SMS Firewall, SS7, or A2P messaging.
• Hands-on experience with MNO/telecom environments will be preferred
• Experience working with international SMS aggregators, messaging providers, or SMS Firewall vendors will be a plus.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work in a 24×7 operational environment when required.
