Role Description

Guercio & Guercio, LLP is seeking a full-time on-site experienced attorney (2+ years) for its Farmingdale office to practice primarily in the areas of Education Law, Special Education Law, Labor & Employment Law, and Litigation. The attorney will work under the supervision of partners and directly with school district and municipal clients on a broad range of matters, including: general counsel and legal advice; student discipline; special education matters, impartial hearings and appeals; labor and employment issues; board governance and policy matters; administrative proceedings; state and federal litigation.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and admission to the New York State Bar.
• Attorneys with special education or municipal law experience are encouraged to apply.
• Strong research, writing, analytical and advocacy skills;
• Excellent negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills;
• Ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced practice;
• Prior experience in education law, labor and employment law, litigation, municipal law, or local governments is preferred, but not required.
• Ability and willingness to travel across the state to clients' sites, administrative proceedings, board meetings, investigations, hearings, and court appearances. Access to reliable transportation is required.

Starting salary, commensurate with experience, is expected to range from $90,000 to $150,000.
