PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Oversees lifecycle billing processes for the dental practice business unit.
- Reviews claims stopping for coding errors.
- Ensures accuracy and completeness of treatment codes and insurance details.
- Identifies and rectifies coding discrepancies to minimize errors in claim submissions.
- Reviews and clears edits for claim submission.
- Addresses any edits or rejections encountered during claim submission process.
- Resolves issues such as missing information or documentation to ensure smooth processing.
- Proactively works on follow-up of denied claims to determine reasons for denials.
- Communicates with insurance payors to clarify claim details, provide additional information, or appeal denials, as necessary.
- Implements corrective actions to optimize revenue and minimize financial losses for the dental practice.
- Monitors market place billing best practices in support of continuous process improvement efforts.
- Produces regular and ad hoc reports as requested.
- Other duties as assigned and/or required within scope of role.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Minimum two (2) years professional experience Experience in healthcare and/or clinical billing setting preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES (K/S/A)
- Functional and proficient knowledge of pre-authorization requirements and procedures
- Ability to proactively engage in ensuring smooth interactions and resolution of billing discrepancies
- Functional and proficient knowledge of various technologies including, but not limited to MS Suite and billing software platforms
- Ability to maintain confidential information
- Effective communication competencies including written, verbal and listening
- Strong problem solving acumen and the ability to engage for supervisory support when appropriate
- Ability to analyze denials, identify root causes such as coding errors or documentation deficiencies, and implement corrective measures to minimize future denials
- Ability to demonstrate an understanding and acceptance of equity, inclusion and diversity concepts, and that they are broader than just race, ethnicity, and gender
- Ability to work affirmatively with gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ) and HIV positive patients
