Location - Patna


Job Objective: To provide strategic and operational leadership to Nursing Services by ensuring delivery of safe, evidence-based and patient-centric nursing care while driving clinical excellence, quality outcomes, patient experience, workforce capability and operational efficiency across the hospital.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall leadership and direction to Nursing Services across the hospital.
  • Ensure delivery of safe, compassionate and evidence-based nursing care in accordance with hospital policies and clinical protocols.
  • Drive compliance with NABH, JCI and all statutory regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor nursing-sensitive quality indicators including medication errors, falls, pressure injuries, hospital acquired infections and patient safety events.
  • Ensure implementation of patient safety initiatives, infection prevention practices and clinical governance standards.
  • Develop and implement nursing policies, SOPs, protocols and clinical guidelines.
  • Ensure optimum nursing manpower planning, deployment and productivity across all departments.
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, retention and succession planning for nursing workforce.
  • Drive nursing competency assessment, mandatory certifications and continuous professional development.
  • Ensure timely completion of BLS, ACLS, Fire Safety, Infection Control, Biomedical Waste Management and other mandatory training programmes.
  • Review patient feedback and nursing service quality and implement improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure accurate and timely nursing documentation in Hospital Information System (HIS)/Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Collaborate with Medical, Quality, Operations, Infection Control, HR and other support departments to improve patient outcomes.
  • Lead nursing participation in multidisciplinary rounds and clinical review meetings.
  • Prepare and monitor departmental budgets and ensure optimum utilization of manpower, consumables and equipment.
  • Participate in hospital committees including Infection Control Committee, Quality & Patient Safety Committee, Medication Safety Committee, Nursing Practice Committee, Biomedical Waste Management Committee, Fire & Safety Committee, Ethics Committee (as applicable)
  • Drive continuous quality improvement, innovation and digital transformation initiatives within Nursing Services.
  • Lead commissioning of new units and support hospital expansion projects.
  • Review departmental performance through dashboards, audits and quality metrics and implement corrective actions.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, patient-centricity and continuous improvement.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the reporting authority.


Educational Qualification:

  • B.Sc. Nursing (Mandatory)
  • M.Sc. Nursing (Preferred)
  • MBA / MHA / PG Diploma in Hospital Administration (Preferred)
  • Valid State Nursing Council Registration


Experience & Skillset:

  • 15+ years of progressive nursing experience in a tertiary care hospital.
  • Minimum 5 years in a senior nursing leadership position.
  • Experience in NABH/JCI accredited hospitals.
  • Strong understanding of Clinical Governance, Patient Safety and Nursing Operations.
  • Expertise in workforce planning and nursing manpower management.
  • Experience in quality improvement and accreditation processes.
  • Good financial and budget management skills.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and leadership capabilities.
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in Hospital Information Systems (HIS) and Microsoft Office.
