Financial Controller

The Finance Controller will oversee critical financial operations, including cost control, stakeholder management, compliance, audits, financial reporting, and strategic planning. The role ensures accuracy of financial statements, adherence to statutory regulations, process improvements, and overall financial health of the university. The position reports directly to the CFO and acts as a strategic partner in driving financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

1. Cost Reduction and Financial Control

Implement and monitor cost-saving initiatives across departments.

Strengthen financial controls to improve efficiency and optimize resource utilization.

2. Stakeholder Management

Maintain effective communication with vendors, students, parents, employees, and other stakeholders regarding financial matters.

Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve financial issues.

3. Finalization of Accounts & Financial Reporting

Oversee preparation, review, and finalization of financial statements.

Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely submission of financial reports.

Prepare and present management reports for decision-making.

Maintain comprehensive documentation for financial activities and audits.

4. Audit and Compliance Management

Manage statutory, internal, and IFC audits to ensure regulatory compliance.

Ensure adherence to applicable financial laws, policies, and accounting standards.

Handle direct and indirect taxation matters, including GST and Income Tax notices.

5. Due Diligence

Conduct financial and legal due diligence for business initiatives, projects, and strategic decisions.

Evaluate financial risks and compliance requirements.

6. Business Planning and Strategy

Collaborate with the CFO in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and strategy development.

Provide financial insights to support business growth and operational decisions.

7. Vendor Management and Payment Oversight

Ensure timely processing and payment of vendor obligations.

Oversee financial aspects of vendor management, contracts, and payment controls.

8. SAP Implementation and Process Improvement

Lead and support SAP implementation for finance functions.

Ensure integration of SAP with existing financial processes.

Drive process improvements and automation initiatives.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

Technical Skills

Proficiency in SAP ERP and Tally.

Strong knowledge of VAT, GST, TDS, Income Tax, and other statutory regulations.

Expertise in financial reporting tools and advanced Microsoft Excel.

Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial controls, and compliance requirements.

Education

Experience in educational institutions or large organizations preferred.

Proven experience in financial reporting, audit management, taxation, compliance, and ERP implementation.
