Job DescriptionOverviewWe are seeking an experienced Air Import Supervisor to oversee daily air import operations, ensuring shipments are managed efficiently, compliantly and in line with customer expectations. The successful candidate will lead the import team, maintain high service standards and drive operational performance.
Key ResponsibilitiesSupervise and coordinate daily air import operations, from pre-alert through to final delivery.Lead, motivate and support the air import team, ensuring workloads and priorities are managed effectively.Coordinate with overseas agents, airlines, customs brokers, hauliers and customers to ensure timely shipment arrivals and deliveries.Oversee import documentation, customs clearance and compliance with relevant regulations.Monitor shipment milestones, resolve operational issues and proactively manage delays.Obtain competitive rates from airlines and suppliers while maintaining service quality and cost efficiency.Monitor KPIs, productivity and service levels, identifying opportunities for improvement.Manage customer queries and escalations, building strong and lasting relationships.Ensure accurate invoicing, cost control and timely job closure.Support staff training, performance management and continuous improvement initiatives.
Candidate RequirementsPrevious experience in air freight imports within a freight forwarding environment.Supervisory or team leadership experience.Strong knowledge of air import procedures, customs clearance and import documentation.Experience liaising with overseas agents, airlines, customs brokers and transport providers.Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.Strong attention to detail and a customer-focused approach.Good working knowledge of freight forwarding systems and Microsoft Office.
