Robotics Engineer: Electronics and Embedded Hardware
Integra Robotics · India
Job Description
Robotics Engineer; Electronics and Embedded Hardware
Job description:
Role: Design and validate control, sensing and power electronics for Integra’s robotic arms, underwater manipulators and mobile robots, from schematic and PCB development through manufacturing and field integration.
Previous experience: 2+ years in embedded hardware or robotics electronics, with ownership of at least two custom PCB designs through fabrication, board bring-up, and validation on physical systems.
Qualification: B.E./B.Tech or M.Tech in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechatronics or a related discipline.
Work arrangement: Full-time, work from office; production and client site support with travel as required.
Scope of responsibilities:
- Design schematics and multilayer PCBs for MCU control, sensor acquisition, isolated I/O and power regulation; review component derating, return paths, signal integrity and heat dissipation.
- Engineer power distribution, DC/DC conversion, current sensing and protection; validate inrush, motor transients, reverse polarity, overcurrent and thermal behaviour.
- Integrate encoders, motor drives and sensors over CAN, RS485, Ethernet, SPI, I2C and UART as applicable; define pinouts, grounding, shielding and harness requirements.
- Develop board support and diagnostic firmware in C/C++ using ADC, PWM, DMA, interrupts and watchdogs; verify timing and timestamped sensor acquisition with the controls team.
- Bring up and debug boards using oscilloscopes, logic analysers and electronic loads. Resolve noise, resets, communication faults and thermal failures through measured tests.
- Implement hardware fault detection and interfaces to emergency stop and safety circuits; verify specified responses to power, sensor and communication failures.
- Release BOMs, fabrication/assembly files and revisions; develop production test fixtures, supplier acceptance checks and documented calibration and test procedures.
Software and technical experience:
Required proficiency: Altium Designer; MCU development/debugging tools such as STM32CubeIDE or equivalent; embedded C/C++, Git and Python for test automation.
Working knowledge: Fusion 360 for PCB and enclosure fit reviews.
Must have qualifications:
- Proven ownership of custom PCB development through board bring-up, measured validation and manufacturing release.
- Ability to justify component selection, power budgets and protection circuits with calculations, waveforms and test results.
- Practical C/C++ firmware and interface debugging, with demonstrated resolution of electrical or communication faults on physical hardware.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with BLDC/servo drive electronics, gate drivers, phase current sensing, encoder interfaces or field-oriented control.
- Experience with EMI/EMC testing, ESD protection, thermal validation and production test automation.
- Experience with sealed or underwater electronics, conformal coating, rugged connectors and corrosion or vibration exposure.
Required evidence of experience:
Share two non-confidential board examples with your role, schematics/layouts, bring-up results and a measured fault diagnosis and correction.
