We are seeking an experienced trial attorney with demonstrated first-chair jury trial experience to join its expanding civil litigation practice at our Poughkeepsie office in the beautiful Hudson Valley. This is a hands-on trial position for an attorney who can independently prepare and try cases through verdict. Our practice includes insurance defense, automobile liability, municipal liability, premises liability, general negligence, and related civil litigation matters.
Responsibilities:Serve as lead counsel at jury and bench trialsIndependently manage an active litigation caseloadDevelop case strategy and evaluate liability, damages, and exposureTake and defend depositionsAppear at conferences, hearings, and oral argumentsDraft and argue dispositive and other substantive motionsPrepare witnesses, experts, exhibits, motions in limine, jury charges, and other trial materialsNegotiate settlements and participate in mediationsCommunicate directly with clients and insurance carriers regarding case strategy, developments, and evaluationsWork collaboratively with attorneys and support staff
Qualifications:Admission to the New York State Bar in good standingDemonstrated first-chair jury trial experienceAbility to independently prepare and try cases through verdictStrong courtroom and advocacy skillsExcellent written and oral communication skillsSound judgment xzbcwsv and strong case-management skillsExperience in insurance defense, general negligence, municipal liability or related civil litigation strongly preferred
