We are a Series A cybersecurity company building a next-generation security analytics platform that combines large-scale data processing, real-time threat detection, search, and AI-powered analysis to help organizations identify and respond to security threats.
About the Role
We’re looking for an Engineering Director to lead multiple engineering teams and drive technical strategy, architecture, delivery, and operational excellence. Reporting to the CTO, you’ll lead engineering managers and senior engineers, make critical architectural decisions, and scale engineering practices as the company grows.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong technical judgment, a track record of shipping production systems, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
What You’ll Do
- Own technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap execution across multiple engineering teams.
- Lead, mentor, and hire engineering managers, leads, and senior engineers.
- Maintain high standards for system design, code quality, testing, and reliability.
- Drive capacity planning, performance optimization, and infrastructure scalability for high-volume security telemetry.
- Own operational excellence, including SLOs, incident response, and on-call practices.
- Make pragmatic architectural decisions balancing performance, cost, scalability, and delivery speed.
- Collaborate with the CTO, Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders.
- Scale engineering processes and teams through rapid company growth.
Required Qualifications
- Experience building and shipping production software, with at least 3 years leading engineering teams, including managers or senior/staff-level engineers.
- Strong technical depth in distributed systems, API platforms, search, applied AI, or large-scale infrastructure.
- Proficiency in one or more of Go, Rust, Python, or Java, with the ability to understand code in the others.
- Experience operating Kubernetes-based systems at scale, including performance tuning and production incident management.
- Proven architectural judgment, execution, hiring, and team development capabilities.
- Strong communication skills and comfort working in a fast-moving startup environment.
Nice to Have
- Cybersecurity experience, particularly with SIEM, SOAR, or XDR products.
- Experience with streaming frameworks such as Kafka Streams, Flink, Spark Streaming, Beam, or Arroyo.
- Familiarity with Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, ClickHouse, Druid, time-series databases, or graph databases.
- Experience building detection engines, real-time alerting systems, or data integration frameworks.
- Experience productionizing LLM/ML systems.
- Experience scaling engineering organizations from 20 to 50 engineers or through a similar growth phase.
