ABOUT US

Thawer Philanthropies Endowment (TPE) is a $1B private family endowment supporting institution-building, human development and venture philanthropy across emerging and developed markets. Through its Social Impact Venture Funds, TPE allocates capital toward public-benefit ventures addressing critical challenges in education, healthcare, workforce development, climate resilience, financial inclusion and economic mobility. TPE is expanding its Venture Nomination Council to identify exceptional founders, operators and institutional leaders for its Venture Builder-in-Residence Program.

THE MANDATE

Council Members will serve as independent talent and venture-sourcing council members responsible for identifying, assessing and recommending candidates capable of building hyper-scalable public-benefit ventures. Each Council Member will be expected to submit a minimum of five qualified candidate recommendations per quarter. Recommendations must reflect TPE’s standards for execution capacity, institutional leadership, commercial judgment, social-impact potential and measurable public value.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Source high-caliber founders, executives, operators and emerging venture builders.
• Recommend a minimum of five qualified candidates each quarter.
• Conduct preliminary candidate assessments using the TPE Selection Matrix.
• Evaluate candidates’ leadership capacity, execution discipline, scalability and commitment to public benefit.
• Provide clear and independent recommendations through TPE’s designated assessment platform.
• Maintain the integrity, confidentiality and independence of the nomination process.
• Participate in periodic Council briefings and program reviews.

Council Members do not approve candidates, allocate capital, manage ventures or exercise custody over TPE funds. Final selection and capital-allocation decisions remain exclusively with TPE and its authorized committees.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

We are seeking individuals with established networks and demonstrated judgment across one or more of the following areas:

• Entrepreneurship and venture building
• Recruitment or leadership development
• Philanthropy, nonprofit leadership or social enterprise
• Higher education, research or innovation ecosystems
• Public policy, economic development or community leadership
• Technology, healthcare, climate, workforce development or financial inclusion

Ideal candidates will possess strong professional credibility, independent judgment, access to exceptional talent and the ability to identify individuals who combine ambition with disciplined execution.

COMPENSATION STRUCTURE

Council Members may earn up to US$100,000+ annually through conditional placement incentives. Compensation is earned when a Council-nominated candidate successfully completes TPE’s assessment process and is formally accepted into the Venture Builder-in-Residence Program. This is not a salaried employment position. Compensation is tied to qualified outcomes, successful placements and compliance with applicable program requirements. Candidate recommendations alone do not create an entitlement to compensation.

APPOINTMENT CRITERIA

Appointments are limited and subject to institutional review. Selected Council Members will complete an onboarding process covering nomination standards, governance requirements, assessment protocols, confidentiality and conflicts of interest.
