Bookkeeper (Remote, India)

About Us Criterion Business Services is a U.S. based tax preparation, advisory, and business analytics practice serving small business and individual clients across a wide range of industries. We are growing our remote team and looking for a detail oriented bookkeeper to support our U.S. client accounts. Position Overview We are seeking a Remote Bookkeeper who can manage day to day bookkeeping, process payroll, handle multi state sales tax filings, and work confidently inside QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop. This role supports U.S. based small business clients, so familiarity with U.S. accounting practices and terminology is important. Key Responsibilities • Maintain accurate books for multiple client accounts using QuickBooks Online and Desktop • Process biweekly and monthly payroll runs for client businesses • Prepare and file state sales tax returns across multiple jurisdictions • Reconcile bank and credit card accounts monthly • Categorize transactions, manage accounts payable and receivable • Prepare monthly financial statements and reports for client review • Communicate directly with U.S. based clients regarding bookkeeping questions • Maintain organized digital records and support tax season data gathering Required Qualifications • Minimum 3 years of bookkeeping experience, ideally supporting U.S. clients • Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop • Hands on experience running payroll (any major payroll platform) • Experience preparing and filing sales tax returns in multiple U.S. states • Strong written and spoken English communication skills • Reliable internet connection and ability to work U.S. business hours overlap • Comfortable working independently in a fully remote role Preferred Qualifications • Experience working for a U.S. based CPA or accounting firm • Familiarity with U.S. GAAP basics • Experience with tools like Gusto, ADP, or ATX Location: Remote, India Type: Full time, Remote
