Job Description

Banking & Finance Associate | New York, NYA mid-sized New York law firm with a long-standing, nationally recognized banking practice is adding a mid-level associate to its growing finance group. The practice sits firmly on the lender side, representing banks and other financial institutions across domestic and cross-border lending, letter of credit work, and specialty finance.

Are you the right candidate for this opportunity Make sure to read the full description below.
The RoleThis is a transactional seat with real breadth. You’ll work on syndicated and bilateral deals, secured and unsecured, for institutional lenders, with a meaningful share of letter of credit and reimbursement work that most finance associates rarely get close to. Deals run from first structuring conversations through to closing, and at a firm this size you’ll be drafting and negotiating the core documents yourself rather than managing a checklist for someone else.
Key ResponsibilitiesRepresent and advise lenders and borrowers across a broad range of financing transactionsStructure, negotiate, document, and close domestic and international deals, both syndicated and bilateral, secured and unsecuredDraft and negotiate credit agreements, reimbursement agreements, security agreements, intercreditor agreements, participation agreements, receivables purchase agreements, and related ancillary documentsAnalyze issues under the UCC (including Articles 9, 5, 8, and 12) and the Bankruptcy CodeRun multiple transactions in parallel in a fast-moving deal environment
Your Future at the FirmThe group is growing and has been adding senior talent, which means room for associates who can take on more. Letters of credit, trade finance, and fund finance are specialist corners of the market, and building depth in them early makes you far harder to replace than a generalist leveraged finance associate. In a mid-sized group you’ll be working directly with the partners who lead these relationships, not three layers removed from them.
Who You AreYou’re a finance associate who already knows your way around a credit agreement and wants to go deeper on the lender side. You’re comfortable owning documents, keeping several deals moving at once, and working through the UCC and bankruptcy questions that sit underneath them. You’re open to using AI tools where they actually make the work better.
Required QualificationsJD from an accredited law schoolAdmitted to the New York Bar4 to 6 years of law firm experience in banking and financeStrong lending background and familiarity with letters of creditExcellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skillsAbility to manage multiple transactions at once
Preferred ExperienceLender-side experienceExposure to trade finance and/or fund financeExperience using AI tools in legal practice
CompensationBase salary of $170,000 to $200,000, depending on experience and skill set, plus a discretionary year-end bonus. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance, a flexible spending plan, a 401(k), and generous paid time off and holidays. xzbcwsv Apply now to be considered for this opportunity.
