About the Opportunity
An established, ground-up construction firm in the NYC/tri-state area is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer to lead its finance function. This is a senior leadership role for a construction finance executive ready to serve as a strategic partner to ownership while overseeing all financial operations, controls, and reporting across a growing organization. What You'll DoLead the financial department, coordinating across development, operations, risk management, executive leadership, and other departmentsPlan, manage, and coordinate all financial functions across the organizationLead negotiations and manage relationships with sureties and banksProvide timely, accurate analysis of budgets, results, and forecastsOversee all transactional accounting functions, including AR, AP, payroll, and job costingDrive the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process and financial reportingLead Controlled Insurance Program (CCIP) reporting and audits in partnership with the Risk ManagerEvaluate and continuously improve financial policies, controls, and processes to support efficient, scalable growthOwn the evolution of financial systems in partnership with the CEO and executive team to support short- and long-term strategic goalsHire, train, mentor, and manage finance and accounting staff in partnership with HROversee credit and collections activity alongside Operations and AccountingPartner closely with Project Management leadership on cost reports, WIP analysis, and financial forecastingEnsure timely completion of all tax filings and related mattersDeliver regular and ad hoc financial reporting, forecasting, and analysisAct as a strategic advisor to ownership and functional leadership on financial and business decisionsLead the annual budget process and present short- and long-term financial forecastsOversee regulatory reporting, accounting policy, and all audit functions (financial, insurance, corporate, CCIP, 401K, sales tax)
What We're Looking ForBA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; MBA, MS, or CPA desirable xzbcwsv 15+ years of construction accounting/finance experience requiredPublic accounting background preferred; CPA desirableStrong track record building construction accounting processes and internal controlsExperience hiring, training, developing, and managing accounting and finance staffOutstanding communication and team-building skillsStrong accounting acumen paired with superior analytical skillsSound technical judgment and strong operational focusProficiency across construction ERP systems; Sage 300 experience preferred
