Senior Financial Controller
Amadora Artisan Ice Cream · India
Job Description
About Amadora and this role
Amadora is a premium artisanal ice cream brand founded in Chennai in 2011. Everything is made from scratch, with no premixes, in our central kitchen. We run 19 franchise and company-owned stores across Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad, with about 20 more planned for 2027 across Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. Our range covers ice cream, bars, cakes, sandwiches, baked goods and sauces.
We are hiring our first Financial Controller to own Amadora's numbers end to end. You will build the finance function that carries us from 19 to 40+ stores across five states: systems, controls, reporting and planning. This is a CFO-track role. As the function matures over 18–24 months, you will take on capital, investor and strategic finance, and grow into Amadora's CFO.
Key responsibilities
Reporting and MIS
- Own monthly MIS: store-wise, franchise-wise, factory and head-office P&Ls.
- Run and sign off the month-end close, with a target of 7 working days.
- Build dashboards on unit economics, gross margin, food cost and channel mix (dine-in, Swiggy, Zomato, quick commerce).
Systems and controls
- Lead the ERP selection and rollout (Odoo or Zoho, integrated with Petpooja POS) as the finance owner.
- Design and enforce controls across purchasing, inventory, stock transfers, cash handling and approvals.
- Set up inventory valuation and reconciliation between factory, hubs and stores.
Tax and compliance
- Own multi-state GST, interstate stock transfers, e-way bills, TDS and statutory compliance, executed with the Head of Accounts.
- Manage statutory and internal audits end to end.
Franchise finance
- Own franchise billing, royalty and supply invoicing, collections and receivables.
- Build a P&L view per franchisee to spot struggling stores early.
Planning and cash
- Run the annual budget, monthly budget-vs-actual reviews, and a rolling 13-week cash flow forecast.
- Build financial models for new cities, new stores and capex (including the next factory).
- Manage banking relationships and working capital.
Team
- Lead the accounts team; hire and develop as the function grows.
Qualifications and experience
- Chartered Accountant (CA), 6–9 years post-qualification.
- At least 3–4 years in industry finance, ideally in multi-location retail, QSR, F&B or FMCG. Franchise-model exposure is a strong plus.
- Hands-on experience owning MIS, store or branch P&Ls, and the month-end close.
- Has been the finance lead on at least one ERP implementation (Odoo, Zoho, SAP B1, Tally Prime to ERP migration or similar).
- Working knowledge of multi-state GST, stock transfers, e-way bills and TDS.
- Strong Excel and financial modelling skills.
- Audit background (Big 4 or mid-tier) is welcome, but must be combined with real industry experience.
Competencies
- Builder mindset. Comfortable creating systems and processes from scratch, not just running existing ones.
- Ownership. Treats the numbers as their own and is accountable for accuracy and timeliness.
- Hands-on. Willing to do the work personally while the team and systems are being built.
- Commercial judgement. Reads a P&L like an operator and connects numbers to store and factory decisions.
- Clear communicator. Explains finance plainly to franchisees, operations leads and the MD.
- Integrity and discipline. Holds the line on controls, even under pressure to move fast.
What Success Looks Like (First 12 Months)
- The ERP is live and integrated with Petpooja, covering finance, inventory and franchise billing.
- Month-end close runs in 7 working days or less, with accurate store-wise, franchise-wise, factory and head-office P&Ls every month.
- Multi-state GST, stock transfers and e-way bills run cleanly across all operating states, with no material compliance issues.
- Franchise royalties and supply invoices are billed on time, and receivables are tracked and within agreed terms.
- A 13-week rolling cash flow forecast and the annual budget are in place, with monthly budget-vs-actual reviews.
- Financial models for the 2027 store rollout and the next factory are built and used in leadership decisions.
Growth path and how to apply
In year two, the role expands into strategic finance: capital planning, factory financing, investor reporting and fundraising. The goal is for this person to become Amadora's CFO within 18–24 months, based on performance.
