Employment Type: Temporary with potential for long-term opportunities based on business needsLHH is working with a well-established law firm in Chicago and is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Biller to join its finance team. This role is ideal for a billing professional who thrives in a fast-paced legal environment, can independently manage a full billing desk, and brings strong expertise in complex legal billing processes.
Key ResponsibilitiesManage the full lifecycle of attorney billing from pre-bills through final invoicesHandle complex client billing arrangements, including split billing, flat-fee billing, and electronic billingPrepare, review, and process monthly invoices accurately and efficientlyMonitor unbilled time, accounts receivable, and billing workflowsResolve billing discrepancies and respond to attorney and client inquiriesEnsure compliance with client billing guidelines and electronic billing requirementsCollaborate with attorneys, clients, and finance team members to address billing issuesSupport billing process improvements and workflow efficienciesAssist with training, mentoring, or supervising billing staff as needed
QualificationsLegal billing experience within a law firm environmentStrong Aderant experience requiredBillBlast experience requiredAbility to independently manage a billing desk with minimal supervisionExperience handling complex legal billing and e-billing processesStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsExcellent communication and client-service abilitiesLeadership, supervisory, or mentoring experience preferredSeeking a candidate with at least 3-5 years of experience
Hourly - $30-40
What We're Looking ForThe ideal candidate is a self-sufficient legal billing professional who can step into a busy environment, quickly build relationships with attorneys and staff, and manage billing responsibilities with confidence and accuracy. Candidates with prior Billing Manager, Billing Supervisor, or Senior Legal Billing experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
