A "People First" CPA Firm, but what does that actually mean when you're at Director level?

It means you've worked hard enough to get where you are, and you shouldn't have to sacrifice your entire life to stay there.

No ridiculous busy season hours. No guilt about picking your kids up from school. No expectation that being a Director means being available 24 hours a day.

Just a firm that trusts you to do your job, respects your life outside of work and genuinely looks after its people.

And I can actually vouch for the culture, because I helped a Tax Director join the firm earlier this year.

Since joining, they haven't worked more than 50 hours a week during tax season, work from home three days a week and haven't missed a single one of their son's soccer practices.

That probably tells you more about the culture than any benefits brochure ever could.

This is a mid sized Miami CPA firm that's managed to create something surprisingly rare in Public Accounting. A place where you can lead a team, work with excellent clients and continue progressing without the constant pressure that often comes with senior leadership roles.

There's no Private Equity involvement, and there never will be. The Partners are committed to keeping the firm independent and protecting the culture they've built.

Busy season typically sits around 45 to 55 hours, with 55 being the maximum rather than the

expectation. You'll have flexible hybrid working, generous PTO, twice yearly bonuses, extra days off around April 15th, July 4th and Thanksgiving, plus a full Christmas and New Year shutdown.

There's also health, dental and vision insurance, a 401k match, life insurance, long term disability cover, new business commissions and referral bonuses.

As Tax Director, you'll oversee a broad portfolio of corporations, partnerships, trusts and high net worth individuals. You'll review complex returns, identify tax planning opportunities, ensure compliance and lead a team of Managers, Supervisors and Seniors.

They're looking for someone with 15+ years of continuous Public Accounting experience, strong technical knowledge and the ability to build lasting client relationships while developing the people around them.

And if Partnership is something you want, there's a path to explore. But if you're perfectly happy being an excellent Tax Director without chasing another title, that's absolutely fine too.

Not everyone wants to become Partner, and not every firm understands that.

If you've reached a point in your career where you'd rather spend your energy doing great work than proving how many hours you can work, this could be a very good move.

Because at this stage, surely the reward for working hard shouldn't just be more work?
