Overview
We are seeking a Disaster Recovery Coordination Manager to lead and mature our enterprise disaster recovery program. This individual will be responsible for developing, maintaining, testing, and coordinating disaster recovery capabilities across critical applications, infrastructure, and business functions. You will partner closely with infrastructure, cloud, security, application, and business teams to ensure recovery plans remain effective, scalable, and aligned to organizational risk and resilience objectives.
What You'll Do
Disaster Recovery Program Leadership
- Develop and maintain enterprise disaster recovery strategies, policies, standards, and runbooks.
- Partner with business continuity teams to maintain inventories of critical systems, dependencies, and recovery requirements.
- Align disaster recovery practices with broader business continuity, crisis management, and incident response programs.
Planning & Documentation
- Create and maintain disaster recovery plans, technical recovery procedures, and operational runbooks.
- Define recovery sequencing and dependency mapping across systems and applications.
- Maintain contact lists, escalation procedures, and third-party recovery agreements.
Testing & Readiness
- Lead disaster recovery exercises including tabletop, simulation, walkthrough, and failover testing.
- Define testing scenarios, success criteria, and remediation plans.
- Track findings through resolution and validate improvements through future testing cycles.
Incident Coordination
- Serve as the central coordinator during disaster recovery events and major disruptions.
- Direct cross-functional recovery efforts and communicate status updates to leadership.
- Lead post-incident reviews and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Partner with infrastructure, cloud, security, application, and business unit leaders.
- Manage relationships with recovery vendors, cloud providers, and managed service partners.
- Provide reporting on recovery readiness, risks, testing outcomes, and compliance status.
Training & Awareness
- Develop disaster recovery training programs and readiness exercises.
- Ensure recovery teams understand roles, responsibilities, and procedures during high-pressure events.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Risk Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in disaster recovery, business continuity, IT operations, or infrastructure.
- 2+ years in a coordinator, lead, or management capacity.
- Experience developing and executing disaster recovery plans and recovery testing programs.
- Strong understanding of recovery concepts including RTO, RPO, BIA, failover/failback, backup, and replication.
- Knowledge of servers, storage, networking, databases, virtualization, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-functional coordination skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- CBCP, MBCP, CBCI, DRI International, or similar certifications.
- Experience with ISO 22301, NIST SP 800-34, and ITIL frameworks.
- Background in regulated industries such as financial services, healthcare, or government.
- Experience with disaster recovery automation, orchestration platforms, or cloud-native recovery services.
- PMP or other project management certification.
