Traffic Equipment and Commodities Manager (Technical Manager IV)

This Technical Manager IV position with the Illinois Department of Transportation manages state purchasing contracts for traffic-related equipment and commodities, including development and maintenance of specifications, coordination of district purchases and vendor deliveries, and evaluation of new traffic control devices and materials. The role serves as a liaison between central office, districts, and vendors while recommending effective use of equipment and commodity resources.

Key qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in business, communications, or science plus two years of business management, communications, or procurement experience (or eight years of relevant experience)
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel statewide occasionally
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Experience in specification writing, state procurement, and commodity and equipment purchasing
• Working knowledge of traffic control device design and installations
