Position Overview We are seeking an advanced, multimodality Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (CT) to support the Syracuse VAMC. In this intermittent role, you will perform a full range of duties in general radiology and computed tomography. You will operate independently to provide exceptional diagnostic imaging for Veterans. Key Responsibilities Advanced Imaging: Independently perform complex CT procedures (including Cardiac CT and Angiographic studies), general radiology, portable radiology, and Operating Room (O.R.) exams. Triage & Operations: Prioritize and triage imaging requests in the CT and general radiology sections. Simultaneously manage multiple modalities during off-tours. Technical Execution: Determine technical factors, positioning, and the number/thickness of scans. Perform venipuncture for iodinated contrast exams and administer contrast media per regulations. Clinical Mentorship: Serve as a proctor for new technologists. Supervise and document clinical, didactic, and lab requirements needed for their ARRT CT board admission. Patient Care: Balance staff and patient needs during complex scans. Assess contraindications and provide comprehensive pre-, intra-, and post-procedural care. Qualifications & Requirements Citizenship: United States citizenship is required. Education: Completion of an accredited post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program (Certificate or Associate Degree) lasting at least 24 months. Primary Certification: Board certification in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology - Radiography: ARRT (R) . Advanced Certification: Advanced ARRT (CT) registration is strictly required to perform independent CT duties at this facility. Experience: Minimum of one year of directly related clinical experience equivalent to the GS-08 level. You must demonstrate the ability to carry out advanced tasks independently. Clinical Knowledge: Proficiency in cross-sectional human anatomy, 3-D reconstruction scans, aseptic techniques, basic life support (BLS), and universal precautions. Physical Standards: Must meet the physical requirements outlined in VA Directive and Handbook 5019. Salary Range: $40.24/hr - $53.79 DOE Why Choose Kelly?
